Half-Life:
Infestation

1.Notes
2.Story

NOTES:
Try Word Wrap on this file.
This is my first single player campaign for Half-Life its rather short, but pretty good.
R_Speeds get kinda high, in other words, slow downs on slower systems can happen. (esp in the fourth level and the tenth level)
There is several "secrets" --stuff that normally you may not see, nicely hidden. Please Note, that all Original Half-Life weapons are in this mission pack, and every alien [with exceptions of the Gonarch, Osprey, Tentacle and Nihilanth.] So, look for those high-tech weapons to take on those aliens!
Here's a tip, try crouch-jumping on some of the rotating platforms of Xen.
The last level has 2 ways to complete. One is through the Xen Terraform (try to figure out how to get in through the "web") And the other is straight ahead. Try to do both endings, It would make me happy. :)
When the slow-fading screen appears after the end conversation, you beat the mission pack.

Story: You find yourself in an odd base, the G-man assures you that you aren't in Black Mesa. If you look out the window something is odd about it, you can't put your finger on what, though. As if the window was really a painting. During your stay in this base, you live in a dull, rusty cell, which looks more like a prison cell than some personal quarter. You swear you hear odd alien sounds from outside your cell, sometimes, you hear strange groans and other things. It almost feels like you are on some type of spaceship, every once and a while the place will shake, lights will flicker, and even gravity lessen. The Brief-case toting guy's employers are wanting Black Mesa to take care of itself, but it seems more and more aliens have gotten a stronghold on the base, their terraforming projects making it look more like Xen than Earth. Your mission is to find an abandoned nuclear device and arm it. Once you are teleported out at a mission success, the Black Mesa will crumble before the power of the nuke, eliminating the aliens and their inter-dimensional portal. One nuke has already been detonated, the Gman tells you, by one Adrian Shepherd, and you must activate the second one to close the portal. "You took the job offer, remember. It sssseems aliens have sssseiged the base, but the Marinessss are there trying to ssssstop them, but they do not know where the abandoned nuclear device issss. You will be sssent down into the half of the base not affected by the first nuclear explosion. Look out, for the marinessss do not know why you are here and the aliensss are trying to kill you as well. But don't worry, you have accomplisshed many great thingsss, and I am sure you can end this Infessstation. You must succeed, or.. our plans will be ruined... Good day, Mr. Freeman, I will sssee you up ahead." After a brief blackness, you wake up staring at your battered HEV suit. So, you strap on your HEV suit and step in the teleporter. While the teleporting sequence initiates you hear the G-man say quietly, "You had better open...it.."

New Maps- Yes

Number of Maps: 11
Editing tools- WorldCraft 3.3
Compiling tools- Zoner's Compile Tools
Compile Time- I didn't count, a long, long time
Building Time- all summer of 2001, off and on.
Amount of Players- one
Multiplayer- no
New models- no
new textures- no
This is just my first attempt at making a single-player mission pack.
I have mapped before, but always ended in errors. Don't worry, these maps actually work.

Known Bugs:
Any Map With Teleporting-Monsters: I have not perfected the "enemy teleporting" effect. It works fine from a distance, but if you are close to the teleporting effect, some times, the monster that is spawning is delayed. This only happened one time, an Alien Grunt in in10. If you see a sprite, but no alien appear wait for it, its coming.
(Sometimes too, you can get "stuck" in a teleporting monster. Just kill it, and then you'll be released, these both happen rarely)
Any map with a level change, I have not perfected level changes, they work fine most of the time, but if you are jumping/crouching, it may mess up the level change. If you do get stuck after a level change (loading...) just noclip out.
In1-Nothing
In2-Box can get "stuck" in door (moves slowly up) Just pull it out
In3-Apache will sometimes look odd, when it collides with a cliff
and goes through, minor bug that doesn't effect gameplay, and I'm too lazy to fix, same thing with the Gargantua - his head clips through the ceiling of the tunnel
In4-A bit laggy
In5-Nothing
In6-sometimes you see dead aliens in the "pit"
In7-sometimes you see dead aliens in the "pit"
In8-Nothing
In9-Nothing
In10-Laggy
Now, it IS possible to screw up the last level. Do not kill the Zombie next to the Window (You can once the window breaks)
If you die at the end of map (Nuke activation) the next level will be odd (the next level will still load, even though you are dead)
In11- Nothing
