SlowHandd's Half-Life Sound Mod
version 1.0

7/26/00

Installation
------------
Use winzip or any other zip extractor that allows to extract with
folder information.

Point winzip to the drive or directory that has the folder Half-Life,
then extract the files with folder information.

NOTE:
If your Half-Life directory is C:\Sierra\Half-Life, then point Winzip
to C:\Sierra.

If your Half-Life directory is C:\Half-life, then point to C:\.

Be sure to extract with folder information.

The result will look like this:

Half-Life/Valve/Sound
   materials.txt
   sentences.txt

Half-Life/Valve/Sound/common
   various .wav files

Half-Life/Valve/Sound/fvox
   various .wav files

Half-Life/Valve/Sound/player
   various .wav files

Removal of the Sound Mod
------------------------
You can simply rename the sound directory to anything you like when
you don't want the mod used by Half-Life. Rename Valve\Sound to
Valve\Soundmod, for example. This will temporarily remove the mod so
that when you play HL, the mod will not be used by the game.

If you want to entirely remove the sound mod, simply delete the Sound
folder from your Half-Life\Valve directory. This will permanently
remove the mod.

NOTE: If you had a Sound directory before you installed the mod,
and have custom sounds of your own, you'll have to remove the sound
folders (common, fvox, player, and items), or remove only the files
that are found in the zip. Simply run winzip and compare the file
names in the zip with the files on your disk. Remove only the files
found in the zip from your disk.

Setting Volume
--------------
Set the suit volume higher than the game volume. I set my volume to
1/4 power, and then rail the suit volume and turn up the speakers.
This gives the best effect.
