Description : This is a Quake 3 Arena Demo (version 1.31 only) designed to test your video card and CPU
                           under great stress. Results from this test will show lower FPS then your average game, since
                           this demo is designed to tax your system.

Files : this zip contains the following files.

                           q3crusher131.dm_67  - Quake 3 Arena Version 1.31 demo file.
                           readme.txt - The file you are reading right now.
                           heyecandy.cfg - High Eye Candy config.
                           leyecandy.cfg - Low Eye Candy config.
                           Crusher-BackUpCFG.bat - Bat file that backs up your current Quake 3 settings.
                           Crusher-RestoreCFG.bat - Bat file that restores the Quake 3 setting that were backed up.
                           Crusher-HighDetail.bat - Bat file that launches Quake 3 with the High Detail cfg file.

Installation : Extract the contents of this zip to your "Quake III Arena" folder. Make sure the extract option
                           "use folder names" is checked.

==============================================================================================
Running : After extracting the demo, launch quake 3. At the main menu bring down the console by
                           hitting the " ~ " key. Once at the console type the following separate lines.

                           \timedemo 1
                           \demo q3crusher131

                           When the demo is done playing check the console again for your results. A good idea is to run
                           the test 2 or 3 times and then avg out the results.

                           You may also want to disable the sound before running in the test. Typing the following will
                           disable sound while running the test.

                           \s_initsound 0
                           \snd_restart

                           To restore sound retype the previous lines, but replace the "0" with a "1".

Alternative : I have also included 2 ".cfg" files and 4 ".bat" files. The 2 cfg files have different level of
                          graphical detail to the extremes.

                           "heyecandy.cfg" - High Eye Candy config, turns on all the goodies to make you Q3 look pretty
                           and your vid card sweat. This cfg also automatically runs the demo in timedemo mode.

                           "leyecandy.cfg" - Low Eye Candy config, does the exact opposite of heyecandy. (I had to run the
                           Q3 Demo almost this way(kept the hud icons) on my old Pentium MMX 200mhz,Voodoo2 system
                           when it 1st came out.) This cfg also automatically runs the demo in timedemo mode.

                           The 4 ".bat" files are as follows.

                           "Crusher-BackUpCFG.bat" - Execute this to back up your normal Quake 3 settings.
                           "Crusher-RestoreCFG.bat - This will restore the Quake 3 setting that you backed up.
                           "Crusher-HighDetail.bat" - Launches Quake 3 and executes the heyecandy.cfg file.
                           "Crusher-LowDetail.bat" - Launches Quake 3 and executes the leyecandy.cfg file.

                           Note: Don't execute the backupcfg bat file after you run the High or Low Detail bat files
                                    Doing so would overwrite your original settings that were backed up.

Suggestions : I recommend you run these test on a freshly booted up computer with no other applications running,
                          and verticle sync disabled.

                          When using the bat files and you want to run the demos multiple times to avg out the results. Its better
                          to enter the console window and type the "\demo q3crusher131" command instead of quitting and
                          launching Quake 3 again.

                          If you want the bat files to automatically close their windows at the launch of Quake 3, then follow this
                          procedure. Right click each of the crusher ".bat" files, and select "properties". You will see a tab called
                          "program", select that tab and then check the box next to "close on exit". Click ok and that's it, now the
                          bat windows will close on launch by themselves.

                          You should run the timedemo in several different resolutions, I suggest 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768
                          and 1280x1024. Make sure your monitor and video card can support those resolutions before you try
                          them. Also if you change the resolution with the "system" menu, make sure you only change the
                          resolution and not any other values.

==============================================================================================
Comments : The 2 separate config files should show and incredible difference in frame rates. Don't be alarmed
                            if your brand new high speed computer slows down to a crawl sometimes with the High Detail config.
                            There is a lot of action and Video data to be displayed, everyone WILL see a significant drop in speed
                            on it. The High detail cfg is meant to put your system thru a good work out, only the fastest of the fast
                            might be able to get by using it in large Multi player games.

==============================================================================================
Problems? : If you have problems changing resolutions, whether the problem occurs right at the change attempt
                            or shortly after. Then try the following
                            After a successful test run type "\r_mode X" in the console, where X = one of the following.
                            X = 3 = 640x480 , X = 4 =800x600 , X = 6 = 1024x768 , X = 8 =1280x1024
                            After picking the desired resolution, quit Quake 3 and launch it again using the bat file. It will now be in
                            the new resolution and should run with no problems.

                            If your video card is an old model, you may have difficulties running this demo. Some older cards may
                            not support the stenciled shadows. Also This demo has only been tested on 32 meg and 64 meg video
                            cards, I'm not sure if a 16meg card can run it.

                            The q3crusher131 demo loads almost 2 dozen different player models, you will need a good amount
                            of system ram. The default setting "com_hunkmegs 56" seems to work fine, but i would raise it as
                            much as your amount of ram allows. On a 128 meg system I'd suggest "com_hunkmegs 80".
