NOTE: BFG10K Arena 1.30 requires Quake3 v1.29h and 1.30 ONLY.

Changes in 1.30 version
=======================

o Codebase updated to 1.30 compatibility
o Added new graphics, models and special effects
o Fixed various bugs, including the switch while charging bug
O Bots now use the machinegun in BFG Fury mode
o more intelligent autoswitching: No longer autoswitches while charging BFG or firing another gun if you run over a weapon
o smoother BFG laser effects
o "pseudo" particles are out for now. We're going to be recoding Gen's particles anyway.
o added glow to railguns
o added back in "classic" q3 railtrail
  cg_oldrail 0 - spiral
  cg_oldrail 1 - classic
  cg_oldrail 2 - laser
  note: cg_oldrail1 can be controlled with r_railcorewidth, r_railwidth, and r_segmentlength as well as cg_railtrailtime

o and probably a lot I forgot about

BFG 10K specific Cvars
=======================
bfg_gametype (requires a map_restart if issued from the console)

0 = Standard mode. Players get a BFG by picking one up from the normal spawn point.
1 = Powerup Replace. BFGs spawn every 30 seconds from powerup spawn points (Quad, Regen, etc.)
2 = Incremental. Players spawn with BFG and 0 cells, and earn 2 cells every second.
3 = Fully Loaded. Players spawn with all weapons and 200 ammo for each.
4 = BFG Fury. All weapons are now BFGs; all ammo packs are now BFG ammo.

g_botsoff (requires a map_restart if issued from the console)

0 - bots behave normally
1 - "braindead" bots

Codemonkey originally meant this as a testing tool, but it's great for a light show! :)

Installation
============
Unzip the file to your Q3A directory with folders. It will create a /bfg10k folder underneath your Q3A folder. Alternatively, create a /bfg10K folder under your Q3A folder, and unzip the files directly to there (without folders).

Fire up Q3A, switch to BFG10K Arena, find a server, hop on, and play!

About BFG10K Arena
===========

BFG10K Arena is a simple yet intriguing mod for Quake III Arena. While nearly all of id's classic weapons returned to Q3A in one form or another, one was severely crippled: the BFG.
BFG10K Arena brings back the classic feel of the Quake2 BFG10K. The new BFG consumes 50 cells per shot, and takes a second to warm up. However, the results are well worth it.

The BFG10K shoots a massive green ball of plasma that travels slowly through the arena. As it moves, it shoots green lasers at all players it can see. When it finally hits, it explodes for massive blast damage. In addition, a "flash effect" takes place: If the lines of sight between the ball, the player, and a "victim" are all cleared, the victim takes damage.

MODES OF PLAY
=============

Since the BFG is only present in certain maps, BFG10K introduces several modes of play:

o Standard: Regular Q3A. Get the BFG wherever it normally is in Q3A.
o Powerup Replace: The BFG appears once every 30 seconds where powerups (Quad, etc.) normally are.
o Incremental: Players receive a rechargable BFG that generates 2 cells per second.
o Fully Loaded: Player spawn with all weapons and 200 ammo for each.
o BFG Fury: All weapon spawns are BFG spawns. All ammo spawns are BFG Cell spawns. Players respawn with the MachineGun and infinite bullets, but they're going to want more firepower quick!

SERVER
======
To start a server from within Q3A, select the "Multiplayer" menu, then click on the "Create" button. In addition to the standard "Gametype", there is a new "BFG Gametype" variable that will let you select the BFG10K Arena game type.

Finish setting up your server as normal, then start the server. BFG10K is up and running!

To run a dedicated server, use one of the sample CFG files, such as in the following example:

C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\quake3.exe +set dedicated 2 +set com_hunkmegs 32 +set fs_game bfg10k +exec ffaserver.cfg
