II. INTRODUCTION

The Omega Strikeforce, a crack team of alien commandos is invading Planet Earth. Earth's best Marines have been called on to help repel them. The alien team thrives on human energy and assimilates the dead to obtain greater power.

In this mod, you have the marines fighting against alien invaders. Each team is played by the players themselves. The combat is divided into rounds and if you die, you're dead the rest of the round. There is a timer to ensure the rounds don't last for eternity.

The aliens are attacking the marines, and their objective is to kill as many marines as possible. For each marine they kill, they take a certain amount of that marine's life force. Once an alien accumulates a certain amount of life force, they can use it to mutate and gain special powers. The aliens also have Breeding Pits spread throughout their base and the surrounding area. If an alien is within a close vicinity of a Breeding Pit, and lost health slowly regenerates.

The marines are trying to defend themselves from the invaders. For each alien killed and for each Breeding Pit destroyed, the marines recieve a certain amount of money. They can use this money to buy new guns, defenses, vehicles, and support equipment. They can also use it to upgrade existing equipment.

III. GAMEPLAY & NEW COMMANDS

You can play Team Deathmatch or CTF. The other two modes of play will not work correctly with this mod.

The aliens, as said before, thrive off human lifeforce. If you are an alien, you want to kill the marines in a way that gives you extra life energy. You can use this energy both to stay alive (obviously) and to power certain abilities.

How do you know what team you're on? Well, the teams have forced models that look like aliens and marines. However, they are also color coded. Blue is marines, Red is aliens.

If you are playing on the alien team, you will have several special abilities that you can use virtually at will. However, each time you use an ability you will lose some of your health, so keep an eye on that. You will need to bind a key to use these abilities. The commands are listed below with the actual command is displayed in quotes :

"cloak" - This will turn you invisible. You can use this at any time, but be careful as your health will slowly decrease while you are cloaked. (COST : Health slowly decreases while cloaked)

"shootpoison" - This will shoot a poison ball (a greenish plasmatic looking thing). If an enemy is hit by it, they will become poisoned and slowly lose health until they either die or become unpoisoned. (COST : 2 HEALTH)

"shootslow" - This shoots a slowness ball (a purpleish color). If this hits an enemy, they will have their movement speed decreased until they die or until they remove the effect somehow. (COST : 2 HEALTH)

"shootdrain" - This shoots a negative energy ball (a blueish color). If this hits an enemy, they take damage and you recieve the health that they lost. It is basically for draining an enemy's life while giving you a little extra as well.
               (COST : 2 HEALTH)

"makehaste" - This gives you a full 45 seconds of haste (similar to the Haste Powerup in Quake3). (COST : 15 HEALTH)

"teleportsafe" - If you're being ganged up on by enemies and doing poorly, use this ability to teleport away to a safe point. It is very costly, however, so be careful when using it. (COST : 50 HEALTH)

Some people have complained that they like to use mouse1 to fire (as opposed to "P" or something like that). If you are like this, instead of issuing the bind command like :

\bind p "poison"

use :

\bind p "bind mouse1 "poison""

That way, when you press P it will bind mouse1 to shoot poison. To switch mouse1 back to your normal weapon, type

\bind mouse1 +attack

If you are on the Marine team, you will notice that you recieve a certain amount of money for every kill you make. You can use this money to buy guns and armor. To make a purchase (be sure you have enough money), go to the console and type

\BUYWEAPON # where # is the number of weapon you wish to buy
\BUYAMMO # where # is the number of the weapon you want ammo for
\BUYITEM # where # is the number of the item you want

All the values are listed below with their costs:

WEAPONS (and ammo) ITEMS
1 - Gauntlet (FREE) 1 - Light Armor ($250)
2 - Shotgun ($300,$150) 2 - Medium Armor ($500)
3 - Machinegun (FREE, $100) 3 - Heavy Armor ($750)
4 - Grenade Launcher ($850,$300) 4 - Health Pack ($500)
5 - Rocket Launcher ($1300, $650) 5 - Antidote ($100) - Cures poison
6 - Lightning Gun ($1850, $850)
7 - Railgun ($2000, $1000)
8 - BFG10K ($5000, $2500)

V. KNOWN BUGS / PLANNED UPDATES

If you see any bugs, please let me know at valtrain@shreve.net ! Here are some updates I plan:

* I plan to get some more people to help me work on this! (Yes, I did this so far solo and I would appreciate help!)

* I would like to have maps especially for Omega. However, I have been working on programming and gameplay and have not had time to make any. If you would like to make maps for Omega, please let me know! (valtrain@shreve.net) Thanks!

* Bots do not work with this version of Omega. I plan to have them working soon. Also the Breeding pits do not work as I have not released any new maps. Look for some soon.

* If you have any suggestions, please email me or post them on the forum at the website. Thanks!
