This file is an ongoing effort to combine all packages named Quake3.UTX into one big pack. This way you can run all the maps that use this file exclusively with one texture pack and no hassles. This build fixes the following maps:

My ultimate goal is to make all the Quake 3 texture packages into one big super package - if it gets too big then maybe sevreal parts. If my ultimate goal is acomplished all Quake3C, DMQ3, Quake3Arena, Allq3, etc. files will become one. Therefore all maps using these textures could run with no texture conflicts. This file is a stopgap measure - to go to the next step I NEED YOUR HELP!!! If you are a scripter or a friend of one who would help me I need a tool to replace the inate search and replace texture feature in UnrealED 2.0. This tool should get into the hard code of the engine where a map tells the engine what textures it uses. It should be able to alter that easily and quickly - in batches if necassary. So all I'd have to do is select a currently used texture and tell it to be replaced with another texture and all my problems would be solved. To aid in this I would also need a Quake 3 texture list - but that I should be able to come up with on my own. The aim would be to have all floor textures in a floor package - or packages if I stuck with the BaseFloor GothicFloor scheme. Means it'd take a lot of work but I'm willing to do this if someone is wiliing to get me the tools I need to make my life easier. Don't worry - I'm NOT re-texturing any maps - all maps will use the exact same texture they always did. This will replace only the large amounts of Quake 3 type texture packs into 1 common pack or several common packs - depending on sizes.

After this I want to tackle Rune and Wheel Of Time. This whole thing is merely to fix past errors as mappers never really though about how to name the textures they used and the packages they would go into correctly. I am trying to train newbie mappers to make sure that if they use WOTDetail for example and they don't want to include the whole pack all they have to do is NOT ALTER IT in any way - simply load up their level after their last rebuild, and save the WOTDetail textures they have used in some temp directory somewhere. It would come out smaller but with the same name as the original - and just as importantly with the exact same textures named exactly the sme way in the exact same locations. At that point all they'd have to do is tell folks what they have done so I and others like me who owns Wheel Of Time - could come by, install everything without the texture file, and low and behold the map will work - because no names have changed so we can use the larger original package. I'm just surprised nobody thought of this - at least for Rune and Wheel Of Time, but for Quake 3 I can understand the confusion as the textures have to be translated over. Because of that it'd be cool to have a default tetxure package for Quake 3 for all Unreal Tournament mappers to use. This then is what I would create with your help. Please e-mail me at the address below if you are willing to assist me.

Thank you!

On a final note:

If you are a "copyright advocate" and feel offended by what I intend to do I must first ask you why in the hell did you get this file? Secondly I must inform you that while I respect your opionion I expect you to do the same for me. Maps will come out with Quake 3 textures no matter what. I'm just trying to make it easier to keep things organzied since even though I haven't made a Quake 3 textured map for Unreal Tournament I do enjoying playing the ones others have made. You don't have to like it - but I do ask you to live with it. Thank you for your consideration in this matter.
