Hello Reviewers!

Were glad you decided to write a review about our mod. To make it easier for you to get a good feel for Marathon|Rampancy in a short amount of time, weve decided to include a short summary of the key information about this mod. We hope you find it useful.

BASIC INFORMATION:
Rampancy is now at beta 1.0. It was primarily made by two professionals during our spare time, but without tons of assistance it never would have come together the way it did. The major players are as follows:

The three musketeers:
Nic "Rhyn" Munroe: main programmer
Greg "Gra" Reinmuth: main artist
Kim "Leela" Nickelson: web mistress

Other (vastly important) contributors:
Martin "Pfhoenix" Actor: programmer extraordinaire
Andrew "Hobeaux" Penick: mapper extraordinaire
"Wolfchild": mapper extraordinaire

Both Hobeaux and Wolfchild form the backbone of the Frogblast: The Ventcore Project, a separate group that does Marathon to UT map conversions. They contributed the maps that Rampancy works best with.

THE FUTURE
The next addition to Rampancy will probably be a humor pack, which will add an assortment of amusing game types (such as Bob Hunt) and some new player models. New maps (with the help of the community) are also planned, including a new way of playing CTF. (Think Water Polo style scoring instead of soccer style scoring.)

CONFIGURING GAMETYPES FOR NEWBIES:
There are so many different options in Marathon|Rampancy that it's not hard to accidentally throw together something that sucks. CTF Lava Giant with an instant flag return is a good example of this: the game is literally impossible to beat. Wed like to recommend some of our favorite configurations for you to try:

-Play King Of The Hill with 3-5 opponents on the included Frogblast Maps.
-Play Tag with real people. The subtle complexity of this game is lost on the bots.
-When playing CTF, raise the flag drop/stay time, and play on smaller maps so that it doesn't take forever to get back to the flag when you die. Play with a ton of people to keep the flag hotly contested.
-Preferably, play on the Frogblast maps or smaller, arena style maps such as Liandre Core Central, Deck 16, and Morbias. These are more suited to Rampancy's style of gameplay.

WEAPON INFORMATION:
Rampancy's weapons have many subtleties that are not immediately obvious. The fusion gun is a good example of this. It has a charge up secondary fire that overloads after approximately a minute, resulting in an enormous explosion. If you're quick enough, you can chuck it at an opponent and take them out. Fusion projectiles do splash damage just by passing near an opponent, so a smart tactic when using the gun is to strafe while running forward and firing, creating a wall of destruction. The fusion gun should not be used in water since it super heats the water and damages the person firing it. But if it is fired down into the water while an opponent is swimming, the splash damage is almost double the normal size. The fusion gun is also the only weapon that can take out an invincible player. This is just an example of one weapon, and virtually all the weapons have subtleties and strategies that might not be immediately apparent. Look around, try crazy things, and enjoy.

Thats about it! If you have any questions, contact Gra at greg-reinmuth@home.com.
