Holy cow!!!!!!
After a whole YEAR this game has seen daylight....see kids this is what happens when you try and do something WITHOUT financial support and funding from big companies.

Think of this as a diary of what it was like to get this little gem in your hands.

If you don't wanna read this scroll to the bottom and you can get the install instructions.

1999 May 15th
we were approached by a small european game company and asked (based on super ear,y degen shots) if we would make a Pac man like game....we agreed.

June 5th
the deal falls through for various reasons One being (and the biggest) is that we would only get fronted 20k to make the game and not get ANY royalties on sales (because as you know as game makers we are idiots,.....and will sign anything<---that's sarchasim BTW)
We keep building the game dubbed "Pack Rat" <--- cause he collects ya see. anyway cause now we want to see if we can even do it. Joey works feverishly do deliver the levels and does so in 7 days.

August 1st
This is where all the problems start, people start getting paying jobs ( and who can blame em....life is not free) and I start getting mis-directed by my personel hell called a life and my newly rediscovered music career. Joey having finished his job more or less is on to greener pastures with the engine and I am litterally all over everything like a 2 dollar crack whore. (music, web, multimedia, promotion, my real job, pack rat , half life (just started playing it) and my woman...whew where does a guy find the time) well to sum it all up Pack Rat falls into game limbo and sits in my hard drive untouched till October

October 20th
My buddy and all around crazy Mo'Fo Eric Kinkead stops by NYC we show him the sites, the girls, and this new thing (for him) called Korean BBQ. He checks out what we have in Pack Rat and thinks it kicks ass,...so much that he decides to give us some helpful secrets on how the engine works. This gets me and Joe back into motion after a brief stint with insanity, we move forward...but now poor Denis gets really really ill, and even poorer (literally) Ran has some stuff he needs to straighten out so for the next 8-10 weeks it is slow at best. PLUS we just got picked up to design a Kiosk app for Cadence. That was cool.

Dec 10th
Holy cow a demo appears..just when all was lost and I had given up on the whole thing, our demo is graciously handed over by a now healthy Denis, I laugh with joy to the point of tears when I see that not only are people actually downloading it, but the consensus is positive "we may have a decent little game here" I said to joe as I read the online reviews....."I knew that since day one" joe replied.

Dec 15th
Rogue Studios and Pack Rat are featured in times square on the ticker.,,,oh yeah BIG moment for us cause we actually saw it IN times square while we were at lunch with friends..it takes us back we are in awe.
The ad appears again on xmas day and new years eve. The demo has now been picked up by 100 web sites around the world. AND 3 major magazines.

Jan 20th
Pietari comes into the picture, Denis had too much on his plate and his services could no longer be used. He is sorely missed and I start feeling without him we are done. Thank God Pietari answered my plea for help on the forums,...he is truly a life saver.

months go by he tweeks, he fixes, he alters...all the while the demo is still getting spread around and is featured on demo discs in mags in Japan, Brazil, Europe and Hong Kong...too kewl. Hell we even get on a site in Russia...!!! Now that's impressive.

Today
Today you hold the final product (nix the patches which I am SURE we will be making) I hope you enjoy this little game, it's not a graphic masterpiece, it's not quake 3....but we are very proud of "The little game that could" as I like to call it, and it just shows that with a little perseverence and luck you too can make a game that a hand full of people will see.

Hey at least we did it,...and ya know what? That's all I care about.
