About this demo:

This demo was made to demonstrate some of the
features and gameplay of Mind Riot.  The area of
the demo is limited to Wyler Arena, one of the
fun places to visit in the city of Dastur.  The
actual game will include a dynamic economy,
complex team play, 100 miles of streets, tunnels,
and skyways to explore, customizable vehicles,
and some other stuff.  The art and graphics are
temporary and will be improved.

Requirements:

200Mhz or faster CPU
64MB of RAM
20MB free Hard Disk space
Windows 95/98/00/NT
Direct X version 6 or later
Keyboard recommended
OpenGL video card and drivers

Playing the game:

There are two modes of play in this demo, one is
a simple combat, where the goal is to destroy
all of the enemy team.  The other is arena ball,
where the goal is to push the ball into the other
teams goal.

Starting a game:

Select start game from the main menu, in the next
screen you will have a number of options to
select.  Enter the number of computer-controlled
players Red Bots and Blue Bots fields.  The bots
will play for their team in combat or arena ball,
even though they're not very smart.  The Max Score
field selects the number of points a team needs to
score to win.  If you're playing a arena ball game
you can change the number of seconds after a player
dies before they can re-enter the game by changing
the Respawn Delay.  Enter your name in the Player
Name field.  By selecing Auto Restart the server
will automatically restart after the end of each
game.  Selecting No Weapons will turn off all
weapons in the game.  Select either combat or arena
ball under Game Type.  Under Scoring Type you can
select either Team or Round based scoring, with
team based the winning team will get one point for
each member of the opposing team.  With round based
scoring the winning team will get one point each
round.  The Start Time determines what time the
game will start, affecting the lighting.  Once
you're ready select start to begin the game.

Joining a game:

Select join game from the main menu, then enter
the IP address of the server in the Server IP
field.  Choose your connection speed under the
Max BPS, or type in the number manually if you
know about that stuff.  Enter your name in the
Player Name field.  Once you're ready select
join to begin the game.

Controls:

W:move forward
S:move backward
A:turn left
D:turn right
Up:tilt forward
Down:tilt back
Left:tilt left
Right:tilt right
Space Bar:fire weapon
Equals:external view

Joystick support also available.
Button 1:fire weapon
Button 2:move forward
Button 4:move backward
Throttle:move forward

Hold down the right mouse button and move the mouse
to look around, use 5 on the numpad to recenter your
view.
