MADKARD

Welcome to the MadKard game. This is the demo version and does not
have all the features of the full function version. MadKard is a
card game. The deck has 40 cards. There are two cards of each
value. The values go from -9 to -1 and from 1 to 9. There are also
four wild cards. A hand entails picking two cards which are added
or multiplied. The result is added to your total score. Seven
hands make a set. At the end of each set, the deck is reshuffled.
A timer stops the game at the end of the hand being played. The
faster you act, the more hands you can play. The full function
version retains the three best scores for each registered player.
The demo version does not keep track of players or scores. A hand
is played as follows:

You pick a card by clicking on it -- this is your 'First Pick'.
If this is a wild card, you can give it any value between -9 and
+9 and you do this by clicking on one of the 18 boxes directly
under the card deck. As soon as your first pick is displayed, a
wheel with + (plus) and x (times) symbols starts to spin. When it
stops you will see the operation (plus or times) that will be
performed on your cards. While the wheel is spinning, the timer
stops.

After the wheel stops you must pick your second card. If this is
a wild card, you get to choose its value as explained before.
Once the second card is displayed, the operation (plus or times)
is performed and the result is added to your total score which
appears near the top right corner of your screen. At this point
you can play the next hand.

The full function version has a PASS and a DOUBLE button. Each can
be used once per set. If you click on PASS, the current hand is
discarded and is not counted. If you click on DOUBLE, the result
from the hand is added twice to your total score. These buttons
are operational immediately after you pick your second card. The
Jackpot is another feature available in the full function version
only. Because of these features, it is much easier to get high
scores with the full function version of MadKard. It is also more
fun.

You can adjust the speed of the wheel as well as the initial
countdown value by clicking on their respective + and - buttons
when they are visible. The countdown value determines the game
duration. When a game ends, you can start the next one
immediately.

To run this game you need Windows 95 on a PC with a minimum speed
of 66MHz, a color monitor capable of a minimum resolution of
800x600 at 65K colors (16 bit color), 16MB RAM and 1MB of free
space on the hard drive. Sound is highly recommended.
