1) About the Game

Friends Fortune is modelled after America's most favorite game show, Wheel of Fortune. You can play up to 3 players. The game was made using Microsoft's Visual Basic 3.0. The game is in no way assciated with "Wheel of Fortune", Sony, Kingworld or Merv Griffin Studios. Nor is it it associated with "Friends", NBC, Bright/Kauffmann/Crane Productions or Warner Bros. It is a freeware game designed solely for the purpose of Entertainment for Friends fans around the World. The creator of the game is in no way responsible for any problems asscociated with Friends Fortune. However, it has been tested thoroughly and should run without any major problems. See Troubleshooting for further details.

3) Rules of the Game

Spin the Wheel
You spin the wheel and then ask for a letter (cannot be a vowel.) For each letter you get right, you get the amount of money you spunned. For example, let's say you landed on $500. Then you ask for a 'T'. There were 3 T's in the puzzle, your score goes up by $1500.

Buying a Vowel
You can also buy a vowel (a,e,i,o,u). But you must have at least $250 before you can buy a vowel. For each vowel you buy, your deduct $250 from your score.

Solving Puzzle
If you know the puzzle, then you can solve by clicking the Solve button. Remember, only the person who solves, gets to keep their score (money). All other scores for that round are reset to zero. If you solve the puzzle incorrectly, you will lose your turn but you will still keep your score until someone wins.

Winner
There are 4 rounds in the game. The person with the highest total after 4 rounds advances to the Bonus Round. So keep in track of the other contestants totals (Press F8 to see Total Money).

Bonus Round
In the Bonus Round, you will be given a puzzle. Then the letters R,S,T,L,N,E are checked to see if they are in the puzzle. If they are, they will be revealed. Then the contestant gets to choose 3 other consonants and a vowel. These letters are checked and revealed if they are found in the puzzle. Then the contestant have 20 seconds to solve (type) the puzzle. If they win, they will get some great prize. The amount of the prize will be added to their previous total (from the 4 rounds) to determine the final score. If you happen to have the highest score, you will be automatically added to the Best Scores List (Press F5).

Bankrupt
If you land on Bankrupt, then your score for the current round will be reset to zero. However, any money you have won from previous rounds will be unaffected.

4) Troubleshooting

Recommended Resolution: 800 x 600

Don't click the letters as fast as you can like you're in a race against time. Otherwise, you may get a message box saying "that the specified device is in use. Please wait till it's free.". This message is not a big deal, but it can get annoying. So, be patient!

i) File not found: "Threed.vbx" or "Vbrun300.dll"

If you do not have Visual Basic 3.0 or higher, you will most likely need to download these two files in order to run the game. These 2 files can be found at the following URL:

After downloading and unzipping the vbstuff.zip, move the 2 files in to your Windows System (C:\Windows\System) directory.
