                                Map Pack #1

This zipped file contains 14 new UFO maps (with RMP files), two Skyranger
maps and one Interceptor map.

Included is a batch file called MAPPACK1.BAT which will install or remove
all of the files used by Map Pack #1. You should first install XCOMUTIL
version 6.2 or higher, unzip MAPPACK1.ZIP into the directory in which you
installed XCOM or UFO, then type MAPPACK1 at the DOS prompt. This file
assumes that XCUSETUP.BAT has already be executed to make all of the
necessary backups of critical files. You may run MAPPACK1 as many times
as you wish to install or remove this Map Pack.

See XCOMUTIL documentation for more details. If there is no RMP file for some
maps, it's because they use the original RMP file!

Some of these maps are original, and some look similar to the originals with
a few modifications and rearrangements. My intent was to make it a little
tougher (and perhaps more enjoyable) when assaulting UFOs. Some UFOs have
unique features (intangible walls, fake floors, hidden entrances) that were
PLANNED. If you do find an error, please let me know. The map UFOGIANT.MAP
is an example of the creativity possible in UFO construction.

For the curious I have included some instructions on editing the RMP
files to customize alien placement. PLEASE make a backup of any files you
plan to edit! Don't blame me if you mess something up and forgot to make a
backup! (Some of us learned this lesson the hard way)

All files have been checked for viruses as of April, 1997.

If you have any questions, suggestions, or have maps of your own to share,
please e-mail me.

I am NOT a programmer, so I can't help with that stuff (although I do collect
the XCOM and TFTD editors). Thanks to Scott for XCOMUTIL and Marco Kaiser for
MAPED, without their utilities (and Scott's incredible patience) none of this
would have been possible.
