Now that we have *that* out of the way here's the fun part...

The Vadrigar, taskmasters and cruel operators of the Arena Eternal, seem to have been
usurped from their positions by outsiders. In a war beyond the concrete expanses of our
reality and beyond the fabric of our conventional space; a war was taking place. The
Vadrigar were the false visage of one or many non-corporeal who once waged a secret war on
the human animals...one of these beings was know as; QUAKE! Some have theorized that the
"Vadrigar" were escapees, from "Hell" itself or that they were generals stranded between
dimensions after some invasion; either way...the "demons" that attacked the Earther's Mars
bases and the Vadrigar were at war...and this left the arenas open for conquest. It is
unknown who controls the Arena Eternal now; some say the original Vadrigar, QUAKE, who
attacked numerous Earther holdings and brought the slipgate wars upon the humans was a rogue
vadrigar pursuing his interests. They say that he saw an opportunity to take the Arena
Eternal in the wake of this new war between rifts and incomprihensible expanses between
things we can only paint in emotions of abstract fear. Some say the masters of the realm
called "Hell" during the phobos incident and the invasion won the war and now controlled
Arena using it for reasons even more shadowed than those QUAKE might have. Some say that
the change is merely another Vadrigar lie; a part of the psychological mind games they play.
In the end, regardless of who now controls the gladiatorial hell; the change, real or not;
has changed the rules...

The rules of physics are more skewed than before, the air is a battle field for warriors
almost as nimble as they are grounded. Very fast demonstrations of dexterity are possible
making the switch times between weapons irrelevant. Perhaps the participants are being
trained for war in new strange dimensions.

The Changes:

Machine Gun: Before the advent of new heat resitant titanium-cobalt alloys the standard
machine gun used by the Ghen'ari (the Vadrigar stole their machine gun design for the Arena
because it was the best they knew) was difficult to use for extended periods of time because
its barrel overheats over time. The new arena overlords changed to this design for one
simple reason; death must be punished and a return to dominance must be a difficult journey.

The SUPER Shotgun: An ancient weapon has been strengthened slightly. During the demon wars
this weapon...even in the face of its primitive design, proved to be an extremely valuable
asset to the rag tag human forces. The new Arena Masters seem to for some reason or another
have a deep respect for this weapon and have made its pellets one unit heavier in the taking
of health.

Rocket Launcher: It is believed that the weapon has been imbued with a demon spirit, a
hellish entity of fire, perhaps a LOST SOUL demon; its impact creates a wall of fire on the
outermost boundry of its shockwave...and thus it does a minimum of 40 points of damage.

The Plasma Rifle: Another remnant of the war with the demons...the plasma gun used until
recently in the Arena was the final stage in the plasma guns evolution before it was
superseded(spelling error...I know) by the hyperblaster. One version of the plasma gun that
stood in time between the gun of the one known as DOOM and the weapon of the Arena was
chosen by the new Arena Masters for it's powerful but violently unpredictable nature (which
was also caused it to never really be brought into wide use...it was shortly replaced by a
version more similar to the current one used in the arenas). It's plasma is more explosive
and can be released more quickly, but the gun could not produce plasma as potent or as fast
as the current version.

The BFG 666: This was the predecessor of the current BFGs...it was not a wide range blast weapon,
but a fusion plasma gun of excessive strength. Early models couldn't hold a prolonged charge for
constantly firing shots, and had to charge its fusion cell every 3 shots for about 2 seconds
(although it sometimes would leak charge when not in use...although this was fixed shortly after
it's introduction the fusion cell recharge was eliminated 3 years later...too late to keep the
weapon from being replaced with the BFG model 2100 which was the forunner(spelling error) of the
famous BFG 9000 of the demonic conflicts of Doom's epoch.

The Grenade Launcher: It was infused with a demonic spirit similar to the one in the RL.

The Lightning Gun: The forceful strength that was once a characteristic of the shafts during
the Slipgate Wars has been tweaked into the current weapons by the new Arena Master's
technicians. This gives the Lightning gun a more ferocious bite now and favors the bold
warrior.

The Buffer: The new arena masters have removed the 25 point buffer used to protect those who
were just dispatched from the arena. They believe that the weak should suffer for their mistakes,
and that survival and dominance should afford warriors in command the luxury of mistakes.

---------

Other Changes:

-more and different air control
-instant weapoon switch
-20 second weapon respawn in tourney mode
-probably something I'm forgetting (there's always something I'm forgetting to mention)

**note the purpose of this mod is to put the adrenaline rush inducing style of DOOM2 back into Quake3A
while still retaining the flavor of the game that is Quake3...the only two things I won't do are weaken
shotgun from it's default values...and change this from a server side mod...everything else is open to
suggestion (although I being the sole person working on this mod; have the final say...but I don't really
intend to implement my personal opinions (if I did the SSG would do 140 damage and the speed would be
460)).
