07/19/1999 iris door

Notes: One Door made of 12 individual rotating doors. I've been playing with the prefab iris doors located at rust and a few other places and was tired of seeing trains used since if you was going to use this door more than once in a level you would need to reset every target name in the prefab. So here is my iris door made of rotating doors. The only problem is that they gap after initial movement but at the end they appear to be solid against each other.

Prefab type: Quake 2

Editors used: Radiant 1.0 Beta build 135

Entities: func_door_rotating (12)

Textures: e1u2/origin for the origin brushes
	  e2u1/mmtl19_1 for door frame
          e2u1/mine14_1 for door
e2u1/clip for two ramps to reduce snag on lower flame

Build time: This one 2 hours(counting testing) total fooling around(20th try) 72 hours(counting sleep and extracuricular activity)

Files: You should have: iris12.txt (this file)
                        iris12.map

thanks: To Goatboy who head butted me into doing this, to my wife who has ignored my nightly activity at the computer(well except for the comment about when me and diva the computer were getting married), to my friend SodaPop for viewing this prefab about 100 times these last 3 days and the excellent suggestions. To everyone who answered my questions instead of ignoring me.

credits: To Id for design a great game, To Robert A. Duffy, Jason Spencer and all the rest who worked on Radiant

Legal stuff: This prefab can be used and modified to make maps
and new prefabs at will provided that it's
redistributed for free. Oh and if you wish to give me credit, worship, or money, I want you to know I never turn any of that down.
