RMQ Engine and Tools Public Source Release - January 2012
---------------------------------------------------------

This archive contains the current RMQ Engine and Tools source code as of Sunday 8th January 2012. It's not
meant for the idly curious - you almost definitely need to know what you're doing here.

In addition to the engine and tools, full source code is provided for a number of helper utilities. Right now
these are pretty limited - there is just a small program to test cubemaps on various misbehaving hardware, as well
as another for setting model flags on IQMs. Future releases may contain more such utilities, as the need arises.

The engine should be buildable on Windows and Linux, using MSVC 2008+ or Code::Blocks (on Windows) or Code::Blocks
or the supplied makefile (on Linux). We haven't tried to build the MacOSX version as none of the team members
has a Mac. If anyone wants to invest time and effort (beyond just trying a compile and complaining when it doesn't
work) to get this working, we'd be interested.

The engine build requires to link with SDL on all platforms.

The engine source code has it's roots in FitzQuake 0.85, via QuakeSpasm, but much of the code is very different
to those two predecessors. You won't get far if you just try to diff them, in other words. In particular the
renderer has been radically updated and (somewhat) modernized to meet the needs of RMQ content.

The tools are intended for use with compiling RMQ maps using the RMQ BSP2 format, and currently only support BSP2.
It's not intended to backport regular BSP29 support to them at present. Also included however is an old port of
Bengt Jardrup's lighting tool with .LIT support added, as well as a readme about the BSP2 format, aimed at engine
coders.

Currently the tools only build with MSVC 2008+; they have been tested on Linux under Wine, however.
