Title : With Apologies to Insomniac
Filename                : 100b4_spud.bsp
Author(s)               : Spud
Email Address : I never check it. Find me on Steam (/id/spudderdudder) or on func_msgboard, #tf or sometimes /vr/'s Retro FPS general.
Description : Bite-sized map created for the 100b contest that ignored half the rules in favor of grody map hacks that saved a couple brushes but severely futched the lighting. Second place is the first loser anyway, so who's counting rules when you've already lost?
Additional Credits to : textures.com and various Google image searches for textures. Insomniac Games, who developed the Playstation era Spyro the Dragon games which this map took heavy inspiration from after a discussion about old games. Also the folks at func_msgboard and #terrafusion for being endlessly helpful, and Salada brand tea, for keeping me awake far longer than I should be.

Comments : Even with a week extension (not for me, obviously), this was down to the absolute wire with less than an hour between a finished compile and sending it off. Part being sick for a few days and part general laziness. Large portions of the map had to be reworked through its development after finding out certain map hacks didn't perform the way I expected/intended them to in such a limited scenario, and there's one or two brushes- the ones making up the tower- that will probably crash your editor if you try modifying or clipping them so don't do that. As it turns out I'm actually garbage at making real maps so it's back to fiddling with hacks for me.

* Construction *

Base            :
Build Time      :

Times & stats   :System Used      : HELIOS II Quake'n'Porn Browse-O-Matic (i5 4670K, GTX770 2GB, 8GB DDR3)
                 Qbsp             : 1.2 seconds
                 Vis (-level 4) : Not present. Vis doesn't like this map and keeps hiding faces it shouldn't.
                 Light (-extra)   : ???
                 Brushes          :  many
                 entities         : more
                 miptex           : what

Texture WAD used: Quake101.wad, own textures
Editor(s) used  : TrenchBroom 2.0.2, Paint.NET, GIMP, TexMex, Notepad++
Known Bugs : I don't remember. You can probably break one or two of the grates. The bit with the button and grenade secret is not a bug, the button intentionally resets so you don't lock yourself out of the silver key. There's also a missing texture someplace. I don't know where it is and at this point I'm way beyond caring, if id can do it so can I. I forgot to clip brush some platforms, I'm pretty sure.

* Legal Stuff *
--------------------------
Blah blah blah don't sell it and if you like those awful mirrorinside map hacks for some reason or want to use part of the map (why?) give credit. You know how this goes.
