An Old, Old Evil
by Dustin 'Tronyn' Geeraert and Murderous Martin
With fixes/enhancements by Bengt "aguirRe" Jardrup

Description:

This is the remnants of a project Murderous Martin and I worked on in 1997.
The PAK file was compiled by Martin, who did coding, skinning, modeling, or found them and put them together.
It contains modified weapons and monsters mainly, as well as some experimental effects.
Not much of that is actually implemented in these maps, which are unfinished. Some, however, are playable.
This is only my episode. Martin's episode included a graveyard and a Nazi bunker, and is long lost.

My episode was going to progress like this:
Prison (prison.bsp) - you can kill stuff in this map, and there is a primitive route to take, but it's incomplete.
Harbour Town (lagtown1.bsp, station2.bsp) - no monsters, just some pretty (or not so much) architecture to look at
Knight's Stronghold (ep2m2.bsp) - now FULLY PLAYABLE thanks to aguirRe. Give it a go, using that new double shotgun is fun.
Coven of Mages (coven1.bsp) - playable, except once you obtain the silver key for the second time, just pretend the map ended
Final Conflict (cavern1.bsp) - kill all the boss monsters, but you can't exit after

Ep2m2.bsp forms the basis for my latest Q1SP, The Knight's Stronghold. The last two maps, Coven1 and Cavern1, were redone by me and expanded
into three maps to form the finale in my Q1SP conversion Soul of Evil.

Installation:

1) Unzip all files to your Quake directory, making sure that 'use folder names' is on. A folder called 'anevil' will be
created. Winquake is your best bet if you're trying to run the ep2m2 map, which is too big for glquake.
Start quake in the following way:

Quake -winmem 48 -game anevil

2) Once in Quake, bring down the console (~ key) and type in the following commands:

r_maxedges 9000
r_maxsurfs 5000
skill (0-4, 0 being easy 4 being nightmare)
map (one of prison, lagtown1, station2, ep2m2, coven1, cavern1)

3) You will be in the respective map

Credits:

aguirRe first for the fixes which make the maps more playable. And for his tools/tech support/etc over the years in general. Much appreciated man.

The maps are by me. Textures are normal Quake textures. My email's djg164@mail.usask.ca
Murderous Martin put together the An Old Old Evil .pak. He did himself or found or spliced all of the code, models, sounds,
graphics, skins ect. Except a few of the skins which are by me. However, you can't email him since I haven't heard
from him in many years.

If for some reason you want to see the other maps for this TC or if you want to use some of Martin's stuff, you can email me.

Obtaining this file, and other awesome files by me - as always, http://www.planetquake.com/tronyn
