* Play Information *

Level Name : The Lizard's Trance

Single Player : Yup

Cooperative 2-4 Player : Yup

Deathmatch 2-4 Player : Actually yes, I've not tested it though so good luck with that :P

Difficultly settings : Easy : 70 monsters
                          Normal : 111 monsters
                          Hard : 145 monsters
Nightmare : same as hard, only with monsters fuelled up on coke

New Sounds : Yes. There's a wind sound from Death2Uall's Storm Pack and a cute ambient sound
from Nehahra that I liked, so included.

New Graphics : Plenty of custom textures & a rather nice skybox from Kell, if your Quake engine supports it.
None are really that new though :P

Demos Replaced : No

.map Included : Yes, as per GPL (see legal info below)

Software needed to play : Recommended either Fitzquake, Enhanced GLquake or Darkplaces. SHOULD work in the standard
engines but you won't get the benefit of Kell's lovely skybox and I can't guarentee the edict limit
won't be reached, especially in skills 2 & 3. Joequake should also work fine but you'll need to load
the sky manually (see the Joequake readme).

The aforementioned custom engines can be obtained from the following websites:

			  - http://user.tninet.se/~xir870k/
			  - http://www.runecentral.com/joequake/news.html

Installation : Create a new folder in your Quake directory called 'e2m5rmx', unzip pak0.pak into that folder and run
Quake with the following command line:

			  <desired engine> -game e2m5rmx +skill <0-3> +map e2m5rmx

Comments : This was originally an entry for the 'Remix Quake Mapping Challenge', hosted by Speeds on Func_Msgboard
(http://www.celephais.net/board/view_thread.php?id=60182). Unfortunately the later stages of development
proved more cumbersome than I'd originally envisaged so it missed the deadline. After spending more time
refining & perfecting it though I decided to release it standalone. At the time of writing, the contest
pack still hasn't been released yet, though :-)

As for comments on the map, I started off building on the original source and you can see some bits of
the original architecture remain, but by and large it ended up being a pretty substantive remake with some
of the areas radically changed and in alot of cases, rebuilt altogether. The base layout is there though,
as is the iconic frontpiece. I'd love to do a sequel to this map some time, re-doing E2M6 in a similar
style.. I can't see it materialising for a while yet though :-/

* Construction *

Base : The original E2M5.map by John Romero

Build Time : ~3 months

Times & stats : System Used : AMD Opteron 146 (2ghz)
                  Qbsp : 00:01:12
                  Light (-extra) : 00:02:34
                  Vis (-level 4) : 03:52:49

                  Brushes : 4985

                  Textures : 66

Texture WAD used: Mostly Q3A with various others collated from miscellaneous sources.
Thanks to all texture artists concerned.

Editor(s) used : Worldcraft v1.6 (level editing)
		  TreeQBSP v2.04 (bsp compiling)
		  Light 1.43 (light compiling)
		  Vis 2.31 (vis compiling)

Known Bugs : There's one Shambler that is completely ineffective if you stand in the right place, but I left him in there
		  for the scare factor :-)

I think I've fixed all of them, (with some help from the beta testers) but let me know if there are any still
in there. If you're missing one monster from the final count then it's probably not a bug, just one humble
hellknight who answers to the name Norman. He likes to stay out of the way and is pretty hard to hit.

Actually now I remember, during some instances of testing the scrags ended up somehow flying through the rocks,
but I haven't been able to recreate it.
