THE "Red Death" had long devastated the country. No pestilence had ever been so fatal, or so hideous.
Blood was its Avatar and its seal --the redness and the horror of blood.

*** The Story So Far ***

They are all there. Holed up in their fortress, hundreds of them, as if stone and steel can give them safety. Isolated in their ignorance
and their arrogance, while all around them the plague ravages the kingdom, the dead pile higher and the rivers run red with the blood of
the damned and the dying. Praying in vain to lost and hopeless gods. A specter moves through the land, sweeping aside life and leaving only
pestilence and decay in its wake. Their doors are barred, their bridge drawn, their swords honed, but it shall not bring them safety.
Judge them with hellfire. Bring them death.

*** Introduction ***

The Masque of the Red Death is a Quake single player level by Dustin "Tronyn" Geeraert.
In order to play the level, you will need Quake Mission Pack #1: Scourge of Armagon, and a custom Quake engine.
The map's system requirements are also very high. If you can run a modern game (Far Cry, Doom 3, etc) then you should have no worries.
The level is very large and contains situations such as long line of sight and horde combat that put a lot of stress on Quake engines.
The only custom engines that are verified as able to load this level are aguirRe's custom GLQuake/WinQuake, and Darkplaces. Other engines
may not even be able to load the level at all. Even with these engines, I must reccomend that advanced rendering options (real time
lighting, for example) be disabled to ensure a playable framerate. Transparent water, however, is supported.

In addition to the high system requirements and the requirements for Scourge of Armagon and a custom engine, I must also issue a warning
that the map is quite difficult. There is a lot of ammunition, but there are many situations where it'll be difficult to stay alive.
