What is CONACM, the LOG to ACM converter?
-----------------------------------------

CONACM is a utility that writes ACM files for AutoCam
(http://www.geocities.com/Hollywood/4704/autocam.html) from Quake console
log files recorded with the -condebug command the coords patch (also
available on the AutoCam page) and with a certain syntex. If you don't have
AutoCam and the coords patch you have nothing to do with CONACM - so
download them first!

The idea behind CONACM that most of the work of writing ACM files is simply
typing the coordinates. Now all you have is to use the coords patch, bind a key
to take coordinates, remember the syntax and press a few keystrokes - and you
have an ACM file that you can later tweak and improve yourself!

How does CONACM work?
---------------------

You have to run Quake with the coords patch - put the coords patch in it's
own subdirectory under Quake and run: quake -game coords -condebug

Then you have to rename yourself to 'xyz' (in lowercase). This is important!
Otherwise CONACM won't work. Don't worry, it will only change your name for
when you use the coords patch, it won't affect anything else. To do it, type
in the console: name xyz

Then you're ready to start taking coordinates. Enter the level you want to
make an ACM file for, turn on noclip and notarget, and you're ready. Then,
for every instruction you want to go into the ACM file, you have to 'speak'
it (in case you don't know how to say something, either press the key that you
bound for it [the default is T], or type in the console: "say something"
[without the quotation marks], when something is what you want to say). This is
how you do it for every kind of command supported by CONACM (note - type the
commands without the quotation marks, and to take coordinates using the
coords patch bind a key to impulse 13 and press it):

COMMENT: say "#" and then say whatever you'd like to go into the ACM file as
a comment.
CAMERA POSITION: say "p", then position yourself whereever you want the
camera to be, and take coordinates.
CAMERA POSITION WITH FIXED VIEWPOINT: say "v", then position yourself
whereever you want the camera to be, take coordinates, position yourself
whereever you want the target to be, and take coordinates again.
CUBICAL AREA DEFINITION: say "c", then position yourself where you want the
first vertex to be, take coordinates, position yourself where you want the
second vertex to be and take coordinates again.

There is no support for spherical areas because 1. I'm lazy and 2. I
haven't seen anyone use them yet

Full instructions on how to do all of this and use AutoCam
----------------------------------------------------------

There are two sources of help if you can't figure out how to use all the
AutoCam-related utils. The first is a help demo, available from the AutoCam
page (under the title "helpful additions to AutoCam" as a CONACM tutorial demo)
and the second is the AutoCam text file, which provides detailed instructions
on AutoCam itself and all the related utilities.

The Command Line
----------------

The case is insensitive, so you don't have to use capitals.

Usage: CONACM <acmfile.acm> [switches]

<acmfile.acm>	- the name of the output ACM data file to write

[switches] - command line switches

The switches are:

/Llogfile.log - specify the name of the console log file to read if it's not
the default qconsole.log, which will be used if you don't
		specify anything using /L

Examples:

Create an ACM file for DM4 based on qconsole.log:

conacm dm4.acm

Create an ACM file for DM4 based on dm4.log:

conacm dm4.acm /Ldm4.log

History
-------

1.00 - initial release, bugfixed as far as I know, total time spent on it
about 90 minutes including docs and testing :)
1.01 - fixed a little bug that caused extra commas to be written to the output
       file

Future plans
------------
None - this is a quick n' dirty util, I don't intend to make anything big
out of it. However, if you have any suggestions or bug reports don't hesitate
to mail me at <ruthd@post.tau.ac.il>. I'd also like to see many data files
made by AutoCam users.

o You will need Uwe Girlich's LMPC, and you might also want to read his DEM
specs. Get both from his home page at:

o ReMaic is available from: http://www.planetquake.com/ReMaic/

o AutoCam which includes a very useful text file is available from:
