1.1 What the hell is this?
--------------------------
It's my personal Q2 mod that I made available by request.
Almost all of the monsters are replaced with altered Q2 PPMs.
It will work with any standard Q2 map and Xatrix maps (though
some of the weapons are missing).

1.2 Most Notable Features:
--------------------------
* Monsters are female! Doh.
* Monsters jump and take falling damage.
* Monsters bleed to death when they take critical damage.
* New cvars (see 2.1).
* Pet monsters (see 2.2).
* Some weapons modified.
* Health and Armor values modified (see 2.3).
* Skill based difficulty system modified (see 2.4).

2.1 New CVARS
-------------
CVAR Default value Function
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
free_dead 0 Dead bodies disappear and free memory.
monsters_respawn	0 Monsters respawn about 1 minute after dying.

2.2 Pet Monsters
----------------
You can spawn pretty much any monster as a pet, i.e, it will follow you
around and attack monsters for you. To do this you have some new commands.

pet_add <monster>
Will spawn <monster> as a pet. Just type anything bogus for <monster>
to see a list of the monsters you can spawn.

pet_nuke
Gets rid of ALL pet monsters.

pet_free
Gives monster pets free will.

pet_stay
The pet will stay put.

pet_active
The pet will follow you again.

pet_nocombat
The pet will follow but won't attack.

pet_list
Lists the pets you currently own. I think it works :)

pet_call
Teleports stray pets to your side.

pet_cam
Switches to pet viewpoint. Blinky coded this and I didn't mess with it.
I don't actually know if it works.

pet_camoff
Restores the camera to the player.

A pet will continue to follow you until it dies. If you have a pet
it will continue to spawn at every map change (unless there isn't enough room)
until you use pet_nuke.

2.3 Weapons and Armor
---------------------
I didn't change a whole lot here. I like Q2 just the way it is mostly.
I don't need no stinkin' laser guns and shit. Some things I changed
just to make the game play more enjoyable.

The maximum carry capacity for ammo has about doubled. I found myself
running out of ammo since it takes more shots to kill the new monsters.
Most of the weapons do more damage. Rockets and grenades tend to throw
enemies further from radius damage. It's quite funny.

Armor max values have increased and the armor types behave differently.
Armor shards give random amounts of protection. The basic armor jacket
is the worst armor to pick up if you have no other armor. Here's why...
You can't improve the protection of this armor by getting better armor.
Instead, the better armor will be held until you need it. However, if you
have better armor already, the armor jacket defense will be added to the
value of the existing armor until it hits the max. Sometimes, through picking
up different kinds of armor, the armor value will go as high as 500. You'll
have to experiment with it.

2.4 Skill Levels
----------------
In normal Q2, higher kill levels just have more monsters. Not here. Monster
hit points and damage are based on skill level. Here's they pan out (to me).

Skill 0 - Easy: Much easier than Quake 2 easy skill.
Skill 1 - Medium: A little easier than Q2.
Skill 2 - Hard: A little harder.
Skill 3 - "Nightmare": A lot harder.

If anyone can live through skill 3 without cheating, I'd like to know about it.

2.5 Other Changes
-----------------
I changed a few little things here and there that bugged me.
1. The shotgun is more accurate.
2. The machine gun is more accurate and doesn't rise.
3. The chain gun doesn't speed up (it's a portable meat grinder).
4. You won't drown (I like swimming).

3.1 The Models/Monsters Behavior
--------------------------------
Most of the models have been altered so they cannot be used as player models
for deathmatch, so don't even try. Download the originals from Polycount for
that. They are all great models.

You have two choices as to what happens when monsters get "damaged".
1) They get bloody (default).
2) Their clothing gets blown off, leaving them semi-nude.
Should you choose (2), all you have to do is copy all the files from
the "alt pain" directory into the "bitch" directory, answering "yes
to all" when prompted.

The model I'm most disappointed with (in myself) is the Yohko model after the
"berserk death" (you'll see what I'm talking about). I had to change the size
of the skin to get it to "GL effect", which I think messed up the seams. I can't
fix it. If anyone can fix it and make it look right, let me know and I'll put it
in this pak.

You'll also see some weird stuff in the "extra" directory. These are skins I
couldn't decide how I wanted. You can play with them if you like. You can also
mak all the the models nude all the time by copying and renaming some files
if you can figure out my weird naming convention.

See the end of the file for model credits.

3.1a Why the hell are the skins not in the pak?
-----------------------------------------------
Well, I... um...
I had a problem with Q2Modeller. It saves models with associated skins
1) based on where IT is
2) with backslashes instead of foreslashes
The problem here is that the Q2 engine interprets anything with a backslash
(apparently) as being on the hard drive, and anything with a foreslash as being
in a pak file. Therefore, if I put them in the pak file Q2 can't find them!
This actually worked out okay for me since I did shitloads of work on the skins
and they were accessible. It's also okay for you if you want to use the alt skins
or fool around with the skins at all.

4.1 Installation
----------------
Just unzip everything into your baseq2 directory (with Winzip, "use folder names" option).
If you have a pak3.pak in your baseq2 directory already them you'd better rename it first.
And rename the gamex86.dll to something else as well.

Note that you must have Quake II version 3.20 to use this. If you don't have it then just
download the patch from id. It's simple.

4.2 Uninstallation
------------------
Simple... just delete the files and restore your original gamex86.dll.

4.3 Bugs
--------
If you use the free_dead cvar, some maps will cause Q2 to crash. This happens
very very rarely, and always in the same spot in the same map.

Pet monsters are pretty dumb. They can't jump and navigate as well as you can.
They can't swim either. To compensate they'll try to teleport if they can't
reach you any other way. Rarely they'll get stuck in a wall or something. If this
happens just use pet_call or pet_nuke.

Once, when I was playing, I gibbed one of the monsters and one of the gibs was
the player model! I couldn't make this happen again.

The console background is transparent (intentional) and looks funny (not intentional)
until a map loads. There is nothing wrong with your game or computer.

You may find more bugs since no one but me has ever tested this. If you do, feel
free to email me. But first, try to be sure that it's MY code that's bugged.
And DON'T send me email saying "U suk,,, this mod suckz", or shit like that, because
I'll just chalk you up as being an asshole who can't spell or use proper grammar.

4.4 Misc
--------
There's a "ripper" weapon that will only spawn in Xatrix maps, but you can use
"give ripper" from the console to get it any time. It's pretty cool. It's the
Xatrix ripper but it shoots a little differently.

Other Credits To:
-----------------
id for making a great game that we can modify!!!

Xatrix Inc. for a cool mission pack

Phillip Martin for Q2Modeller, NPherno for NST, Pete Callaway for QPed.
All three of these tools were invaluable in this project. I could not
have done it without them.

Blinky - Some of the pet code was originally his, but it didn't
work for single player, which is all I play, so I worked on it.
A lot.

NOTE: If I forgot to mention anyone for a model that I used, PLEASE
let me know. I hate not giving proper credit.

6.1 Legal Stuff
---------------
This crap is provided AS-IS. No warranty, or anything, is included. If your
computer blows up in your face while using it, tough shit. I'm not responsible.
If it offends you in any way, tough shit. You knew what it was before you
downloaded it!! Be responsible and keep it out the hands of people who shouldn't
possess it, like children (nudity) and religious freaks (they shouldn't posses
anything at all because they'll find a reason to bitch about it).

Per id's license agreement, this whole damned thing has become their property.
You can't exploit it in any way, can't charge money for it, can't charge people
to play it, etc, etc.

You may distribute this stuff provided you do so AS-IS, with all parts in tact,
and do not modify it in any way, unless you get permission from all parties involved.

6.2 Other Stuff By Me

Most of which can be found at http://wraith.betterbox.net.
If you can't find it and want it, email me at the address
above, which hasn't changed for 7 years.

7.1 Obligatory Story
--------------------
All of these things seem to have a story so here's this one...

The Strogg were failing miserably. Unable to accomplish their
goals using military might, they decided to launch a subterfuge
campaign when they realized that most human males had a weakness
for human females.

Using cloaking and teleportation devices, they began kidnapping
human females by the truckload to transform into sexy, but deadly
cyborg agents to carry out their evil plans.

Your mission, as much as it may disturb you, is to get rid of these
cyborg chicks before they can do any damage to the human race.
