= Stroggification - A "Zombie Mod" for Enemy Territory: Quake Wars =
Version: Alpha 1 - "I obey these words, written in my head. I think they are spelled wrong."

NOTE: This is an Alpha version.
While theoretically the worst that will happen is the game crashes, I hold no responsibility if your computer explodes in a ball of incandescent fury.

= What =
The mod leaves the Strogg with only the melee spike as a weapon and is designed to be played with a few GDF versus many Strogg.
Most vehicles and deployables are also removed for both sides.
Strogg Aggressor modified to be slow but strong, Oppressor fast but weak.

= ChangeLog =
2007-12-27 - Alpha 2 - Initial release.
Strogg classes differentiated a bit.
GDF Field Ops restricted to shotgun to force him to get in the thick of it, on defence maps this is a critical class due to burning through so much ammo.
2007-12-22 - Alpha 1 - Unreleased
Just the basics of the mod down.

= Known bugs and Limitations =
Strogg bots pay too much attention to players they can't reach.
Because primary weapon is removed for strogg, the preview model for the strogg player doesn't show correctly in the limbo menu. *shrug*

= Using the Mod =
1. Installation: Create a folder inside the Quake Wars called "stroggification" and unzip the files into it.

2. Loading the mod:
Run the batch file "Load Stroggification" in the stroggification folder.
Or load Quake Wars and choose Stroggification from the mods menu.
NOTE: Stroggification must be loaded before attempting to connect to a server running Stroggification.

3. Playing the mod:
Play against Computer, or start a server, or connect to a server running Stroggification.
So far I've been trying to balance it at 4 GDF to 10-12 Strogg bots, but try out the numbers and let me know how close the games are.
If you are playing with bots as allies I suggest you set their skill to Hard.
As for servers, in future versions (if any) I'll likely set up a limit to enforce a gdf/strogg ratio, for now, turn off auto balance and expect players to screw things up heh.

= Performace =
Bots take a bit of CPU power, the more you have the bigger the hit. The system does scale the bots thinking rate down if your system isn't handling thing well, but there is a limit. Therefore it may be necessary to drop some of your settings down a notch to get a more consistent experience. Of course if you mainly play bots anyway you would have already done this.

= Distribution =
Distribute as you will, just keep the zip unmodified. Sweet.

= Thanks and credits to =
Splash Damage and id Software for the awesome game/engine.
Cody64 for his blood mod.

= Final Thoughts =
Initial release - cheap and easy, maybe cheesy. Mainly removing a lot of stuff. I originally had some game code tweaks (like stopping bots automagically deploying without tools), but decided to do a 'code free' release since 1.4 is so close and will 'break' game code mods. This way gives me more leeway to come back to it on my timescale.
Game seems to play nicely, 'Zombie Mod' with a focus. Fun.
Still need to find the right Strogg to GDF balance.
Needs work on bot AI to ignore players they can't reach and to go after vehicles with melee more effectively, but haven't decided how much time I want to spend on this mod yet.
