WildWest version 1.613

Starting a server can be as simple as clicking "Start Your Own Server"
from the launcher program. This file includes some tips to make your
server admin life easier.

1. Before you start your server open WildWest\cfgs\WildWest_server.cfg
in an editor like Notepad and give your server a custom name, MotD and
URL. The comments in that file make it clear what to change.

2. A large number of custom PK3s will increase load times to a point
that players with slower connections will be dropped. This is explained
in the section of this file labeled "SPECIAL TOTAL CONVERSION MOD
INSTRUCTIONS". It will explain in more detail how to reduce the PK3
load on your server.

3. Rotation files from Version 1.5 may cause the rotation to "hang"
Having more than 6 maps in a rotation script as created in Version 1.5
may cause your server have odd errors. We STRONGLY recommend that you
create new rotation files based upon the files found in the new
WildWest\rots directory.

4. There are new game types defined for Version 1.6 (and newer). You
must use these game times in the individual map .cfg files in the
WildWest\rots directory.
Gametype 9 = WildWest Objective (same as Wolf MP)
 Gametype 10 = WildWest Stopwatch
Gametype 11 = WildWest Capture the Flag (same as Wolf Check Point)
Gametype 12 = WildWest Team Death Match

SPECIAL TOTAL CONVERSION MOD INSTRUCTIONS

The WildWest isn't an "add-on" mod like Bani or Shrub. The WildWest
is a Total Conversion mod. It take RtCW and replaces EVERYTHING that
makes RtCW the game it is. As a result, a standard RtCW install now
has some extra baggage. To make a lean and mean server, we can get
rid of everything we don't need. That means everything in the directory
named "main", must go. Renaming the "main" directory will ensure a
trouble free sever with fast load times. So if at all possible, rename your
"main" folder to something Main2 or anything else that suits your fancy.
Doing this will ensure that the regular wolf PK3s are not referenced.
This saves memory and eliminates a RtCW bug.

If you can't rename your "main" folder, please make sure there are no
custom PK3s in it. There is a bug in the Wolf executable. When the game
has too many pk3's to scan, it will lead to client crashes at map change..

You have been warned!!!

MAP ROTATION FILES

Version 1.6 contains a single rotation file that takes you through 11 map
configurations. This rotation file is in the WildWest\rots directory and is
named "map_rotation_1_go.cfg". You should feel free to customize the rotation,
to mix and match the maps and run the maps you like best.

Your server is YOUR server. Express yourself.

There is a file containing all of the recommended server config settings.
If you look in the wildwest\cfgs directory, you will see a file named
"Wildwest_server.cfg" . You may want to edit some cvars like MoTD,
server name, max_players, max_rate, and etc. You can edit the last line
to start using a custom rotation of your own creation. Or, if you like, you
can leave everything as is and run a standard WildWest server.

To start your server, just click "Start Your Own Server" in the loader program.
You can also start a WildWest server following the instructions for starting a
RtCW server, just add "+set fs_game WildWest" to your command line.
