I have the Maxx pedals. They work OK, but they're not all that useful
for F3, except in landing. Remember the rudder gets progresively less
effective with higher speeds and has no effect above 400 (450?) knots.
It is easier to control the rudder with pedals than the keyboard. Or
have they fixed the keyboard rudder problems? (always seemed like it
ignored my keyboard input then, wham, big yaw change).

I bought the pedals primarily for AotP. With the new patch, rudder
isn't as important, but is still quite useful for lining up shots.

Supposedly the TM pedals are a lot sturdier, which explains the price
difference (that and TM overcharges for everything). I suspect my
Maxx pedals will have a reasonable lifetime, but not forever.

Summary, pedals are somewhat useful , but I wouldn't pay $100 for them.
I think there may be some conflicts with pedals and using the FCS
'hat'. Any comments?

Subject: Joystick ports/Lockups

Very interesting...
I also have a SB 1.0 with a joystick port.
also in the system is a dual serial, paralell, game port card.
The SB joystick port was disabled (according to the manual).
The game port on the I/O card could not be disabled.
Everytime I started Falcon3, I had to recalabrate the joystick.
It seems to lose calabration occasionlly during flight, but
always needed to recal when restarting the game.

Well, I bought a new I/O card without the game port,
enabled the game port on the SB. Now things work much better.
I wonder if the disable jumper on the SB really works?

Wing commander works much better too.

For what it's worth... For you people having wierd lockups...
Make sure you don't have any IRQ or DMA conflicts.
