Daron, you state that you can defeat passive radar missiles such as the
Apex by quickly launching your own missile at the offending fighter.
Does this mean that we can just launch in their general direction
without first getting a missile lock, or do we have to have a lock
before firing?

I would think that in real life, any missile in the air would be
treated as a potential threat and that obtaining a lock before firing
wouldn't be necessary. As an example, IR launch indications are based
on detecting the exhaust signature of a missle. This may not always
work though.

In any case, let's say a flight (i.e. more than one A/C) of bogeys is
heading your way and one of them launches an Apex at you. To counter,
you launch a missile towards their flight (either with or without
obtaining a missile lock first). At this point, the launch warning
lights in all aircraft of the bogey flight should light up having
detected the exhaust plume of my missile and they all should take
evasive action. The reason for this is that an aircraft can't
determine if they are the target that an IR missile has locked on to,
only that there has been a launch. However, I wonder if Falcon would
really behave this way.

By the way, I would like to commend SH on keeping a presence on the
net, listening to our questions, praise and complaints and offering
support and suggestions. It's refreshing to see a technology company
that actually use technology. I don't know how many computer related
companies I've talked to that don't know what email, or USENET, or the
Internet is. It's rarer still to find a company that has figured out
they can benefit from using these information infrastructures.

Subject: Harpoon

I cannot seem to get the Harpoon missiles to destroy any ships. I go out,
set radar to SEA mode, press T to select a ship that I want, and I fire a
Harpoon. I give the harpoon to 5 of my wingmen, and they launch them, too.

Then we get back to find that none of our Anti-ship missiles did anything,
only one Su-27 was shot down and one FSX shot down.

  Can somebody help me?
