I was in the mall today on the way to pick up FS5, and I saw a big box with what looked like an F-16. It was the a Spectrum Holobyte Video and Book. I'm sorry but the title doesn't really come to mind. But it might not have been the air combat trainer, maybe it was. I was in a little hurry, so I didn't really get a good look. I sure these was a video and book, and a demo disk of F3. The price was around $30. If anyone out there has bought this. Or know exactly what this is.. do tell.. Prodigy: GRTV13B -MLK Jr. ------------------------------- From: jay.lee@msbbs.mn.org (Jay Lee) Subject: MiG-29 -- KP5 As I understand it (the info is in the readme.txt file for the MiG, I forget the name. mgreadme.txt?), when you press kp5, it trims the aircraft for your current speed, AOA, and attitude. If the problems you're having occur when you try to auto-trim (kp5) while you're maneouvering, I'll bet this is the cause of your troubles. I've heard complaints about the joystick calibration routines before, but I have no trouble with either my Thrustmaster FCS or my Gravis. I would suggest that if you're not flying with a FCS to get one. The wide range of movement along with the coolie hat for trimming make flying the 29'th a MUCH MUCH easier task. The only gripe I have concerns the lack of the throttle wheel. I understand this isn't a problem if I get the WCS, but that's another $100 to spend, and at the moment it isn't justified. :( j ------------------------------- From: mcoyne@acs.bu.edu (Michael Coyne) Subject: H2H: Falcon vs. Fulcrum is great! Head to Head: Falcon vs. Fulcrum I tried H2H via modem connection for the first time last night with Jim McNamara. We connected using procomm and qmodem at 9.6 with no compression, then exited without hanging up and followed instructions for direct connect per the MiG manual. It worked great !!!!!!!!!! (we both have GW2000 Telepaths) We only tried the 2 player dual, but it worked flawlessly for about six missions. I don't know if I'll ever go back to flying with computer opponents and stupid wingmen again. I feel like such a rookie for having F3 since its original release and never trying this. A few interesting notes: Our ROE started out as including no shooting until after a head on pass, then anything goes. So there we were, heading directly at each other with about 1000 knots closure. At about a mile out, I noticed some cannon fire and said to myself, "That capitalist pig, he's breaking ROE." Then, as I saw debris and flames bellowing from HIS F-16 a fraction of a second later, I realized just how effective the GSh-301 "AUTOCANNON" is!!! ..... Sorry Jim. After that initial screw-up. Our furballs got much better. They didn't last long though, as missiles proved to be very effective for both sides. We modified our ROE to use only guns, and that seemed to extend the sorties. All in all, it was the most fun I've had with Falcon yet. I would highly recommend it to anyone, as it truly ads to the fun.
