 I have to disagree with you here, Chera.  I've found that in full military
power, both models bleed energy pretty much the same (ver.3.02),  however, in
full afterburner, you can maintain a 9G turn in Hi-Fi while continuing to
accelerate.  In fact, I was able to go over 700 kts at 9G while accelerating
until blackout.  In Complex, you can maintain a 9G turn, but your airspeed
will hold at around 450 kts (the correct airspeed for a 9G turn.)  Also, in
Hi-Fi, you can pull 9G at almost any speed except standing still.  (A slight
exaggeration, but not by much)

There are two of these maneuvers, called the "L-1" and "M-1". I always forget 
which is which, but they both have you straining essentially every muscle in an 
effort to force the blood back up into your head, the difference between the two
is in how you breathe. In one, you essentially hold your breath for a couple of
seconds: quick inhale, hold, quick exhale, repeat. In the other you let your 
breath out slowly: quick inhale, slow exhale, repeat.

I never really noticed much difference in terms of G-tolerance between the 2
maneuvers, but the one with the slow exhale was definately much less tiresome 
and more relaxing for me. Each guy has his own preference on which he wants to 
do.

This was the first thing that impressed about the F-16 during BFM. Flying in 
the F-4 and F/A-18, you really have to twist your body to see what's going on 
above and behind you. This can be difficult under high G loads. In the Viper, 
you just lay back and you can see everything. It's great.

This past summer, several Russian test pilots came to the USAF Test Pilot 
School (TPS) to fly F-15s and F-16s. Then several USAF test pilots went to 
Russia to fly MiG-29s and Su-27s. I bet we have a Russian attending the USAF TPSbefore the end of the century, and probably the USN TPS as well.

Each of the tracked targets in TWS mode appear as a triangle. Below each 
triangle is a number that indicates altitude (x 1,000 ft). There is a line 
eminating from each target to show its direction of travel and speed. The 
longer the line the faster he's going. There will be one "bugged" (ie. priority 
target) you select with the cursor. For this target you get a digital readout 
of airspeed, groundtrack, and a few other things.

If you do a quick double trigger pull, you release the bombs immediately 
bypassing that CCRP function SH built into the CCIP piper. So, if the death dot 
is over the target you should get a hit.

This technique probably shouldn't work, but I have had pretty good succes with 
it, maybe 70-80%. When you determine it's an SA-7, light the burner and do a 
loop back into the missile. 99 times out of 100, the SA-7 should be coming from 
behind you, so this cuts a corner it can't hack I guess. If you've got the 
smash to maintain 400 knots over the top, you probably don't need to light the 
burner. I got this tip from Howard Bornstein's F3 book.

I agree with you that it is most probably the drag model that is messed up, I 
was just trying to point out the the possible causes.

Only at the higher altitudes (20,000 ft and above). At 10,000 ft, I got the 
HiFi model to do a sustained 9 g turn at 700 KTAS. This is total BS. Complex 
does about 450 KTAS at this altitude, which is still wrong but it is closer. 
However above 20,000 ft the HiFi model is a little better in this respect.

Well I'm not an F-16 pilot, but I do have a lot of experience with the aircraft 
as a performance and flying qualities flight test engineer. I've also got some 
flight time in the F-16. So my views are based on what I know about F-16 
performance and flying qualities.

Greetings --

I recently purchased a MediaVision Pro Studio 16 sound card
for my 486DX2-66 machine. With the card installed, I do not
hear any of the digitized speech that I could previously hear
(albeit, very uniteligible) thru the PC speaker. This occurs 
both with Falcon 3.0D and the new Falcon 3.0.2 that I picked
up a few days ago on onion.rain.com.

Reading the MediaVision manual, I noticed that they mentioned
this was a known problem and to contact Spectru Holobyte for
a patch/fix. Any info on such a fix would be greatly appreciated.
