Now that I have a Thrustmaster FCS, I have started having this problem and it is getting quite annoying (I've crashed once already because of it). I have a CH GameCard 3 and the new TM-Stick utility, so I thought I had worked around all of the calibration problems (flight works great!). If there are any known solutions, please let me know! For the moment, I'm going to try getting SIMPAK and see if I can remap the hat-switch to unused keystrokes so that at least the view stays forward. -- Greg Stelmack (Greg_Stelmack@mta03.sbi.com) -- Salomon Applications Developer, BTO Tampa -- (813) 558-6189 ------------------------------- From: cisko@d0tokensun.fnal.gov (Greg Cisko) Subject: Re: Hornet trim > From: slb512@serveru1.naic.wpafb.af.mil (stuart butts/taai/75033) > Subject: Hornet trim > > > From: cisko@d0tokensun.fnal.gov (Greg Cisko) > > Subject: Re: (trim)Hornet*Padlock, How does a Mig29 beat a Viper? > > > > The trim for the F/A-18 is mostly for bias adjustments, as the FBW takes > > care of the "normal" trimming operations. The way the trim works in an aircraft Yep... I'm sure that is how the program works. I think the FBW computer will re-trim at different speeds. The USER only re-trims the bias. Let's put it this way. It sure doesn't use trim adjustments the same way the MiG does :) I don't think there is a "trim bypass" which will allow you to manualy re-trim the plane, either. One cool feature of NSF is the AoA limiter. (The AoA limiter doesn't really exist, does it?) Under certian conditions you are not allowed to perform a loop. Your AoA is too high & you just sit there pointing straight up, going no-where. The departure point should always be the same, and it should be the gun cross on the HUD, although it appears to be the center of the HUD for F3. Haven't looked at NSF yet. > Besides, isn't the gun funnel supposed to rely on a radar lock > to work properly (according to our resident real f16 pilot it > does), and it would suffer the same problem with having lock broken > if it were properly modeled in Falcon (which apparently it is > not). It's not a necessity for the EEGS to work, but it helps. I think the EEGS (the real one) is the best gunsight for both radar lock and no radar lock cases. The F3 version is a little buggy though. ------ Stuart Internet: slb512%server3@fastc-issu.wpafb.af.mil | When sending messages, slb512@serveru1.naic.wpafb.af.mil | please send to both of these GEnie: S.BUTTS2, Mister Ed, Plane #6333 CI$: 71553,356 ------------------------------- From: harveyg@meoc02.enet.dec.com Subject: Harrier and Hornet In a recent digest a local person "Melbourne" referred to Harrier Jump Jet. It's available down here in the land of milk and honey) it is far better value, even at 70 Oz dollars. Harrier harrier, which on is it >:) I am not a UK person, but as far as I know there are two Harrier sims that are worth a hoot. Harrier and SVGA Harrier by Domark is (are) 1. I have the old non SVGA version. it is kinda like a cross between Falcon3 and Harpoon. You can plan out attacks with ground forces, assign Harriers to take out targets, etc. You really don't even have to fly if you don't want to. Or, you can set up a bunch of missions and let 'er rip, then jusmping into each harrier as it reaches its targets, do the dirty work, then jump to another Harrier allowing the previous to fly itself home. Graphics were so so. I understand those more knowledgable than I say the flight models are *really* very good. The combat was tough in the sense it was really hard to tell where bogeys were coming from and goin to etc. Kinda neat, but grows old fast. It is really fun to see as you come into land the ships open up on bandits. More on that later. SH distributes SVGA Harrier in the US The other Harrier sim is Jump Jet by Microprose. Never had it, never will. I I hear it is more you against the world MPS stuff. >Do yourself a favour and get Hornet (Yes!!! It's available down here in the land of milk and honey) it is far better value, even at 70 Oz dollars. I was goin to post a note about Hornet, but I guess this is a good a place as any :) I am starting to feel real cheated with Hornet. I love the flight model, the weapons, and the Hornet plane in general. The price I paid for it (retail, I could have gotten it cheaper, sure, through mail order. But for the sake of discussion, lets look at the retail price in Elect. Boutique on Dec 29th, 1993) is the crux of my feelings. I paid 47 dollars for Hornet, and got a new plane and theatre. Other than that it is really just F3 in another skin. There is nothing to make me think this is a Naval flight sim. As said before, there is nothing true to carrier ops in Hornet aside from say the LSO. I spent all day Saturday messing with the Tm-stick program, my FCS, and Hornet. Twice I got jumped, while in the pattern, gear down, low speed, finishing my down wind leg and gettng ready to start my final approach. Then bullets over my head, engine out, into the drink as I see a Mig 27 fly by. No warning, no help, no nothin. In Falcon 3 I can accept this as you could be flying from a poorly defended air field somewhere. But not when landing on a super defended carrier. Sooooo. I would call Hornet F3 in another skin. The price I paid is too much for what I call just an add on plane. Yes Ilike the plane and model and actually enjoy flying it. But I do not feel Hornet represents a decent reality such as Mig or F3 does. Yes, I would say all Falcon lovers should get it. Just know what you are getting. >Having said that, I tried to do a modem connect with a fellow Hornet pilot >recently and got nothing but trouble. We got as far as the "Receiving >After spending a fortune on phone calls and wating 2 hours we gave up. >Are there comms bugs are are we just incompetent (please be kind in your response). Hehehehe, welcome to the club..unfortunately :( A friend and I had nothing but what you say. Then other times we would get in, just to lock in the air or havem some other wierd thing happen. I did find the modem strings listed in the Mig manual for my modem (PP14.4fx) did help. Others report pretty good results if I hear it right. I have not had decent results since flyin F3 ver 3.01.1 I do not know if there has been a Hornet comms add on created. It helped with really speeding up the Mig/F3.02 comms and even seemed to help us get in. If it has been released maybe some kind soul can tell us where it is ;) it might help. As for my thoughts, I just think my friend and I have hardware that Horent doesn't like. >And another "problem??". The AWACS messages are not just static when you >SHIFT-N for the waypoint information, but the other AWACS messages are fine. I don't think this is a problem. I can't remember anymore what was changed when, but I think the AWACS voice was crippled a ways back to make room in the memory to fix bugs. But I don't recall when this happened. Honestly keeping up with SH patches and versions is alot like keeping up with CPU's! In the old days there was Intel (as well as a few others) Now we have Cyris, AMD, IT, IBM, etc etc, each just a little different. Ah for the old days where we just talked about the differences between a 486/DX and 486/sx :) Falcon patches follows this trend. :) >Is there a problem here? and if so is there a patch? And if there is a patch >how do I get into the account. I had heaps of trouble when I tried. Yes I think there is a patch on the way. The patch to fix the patch has not been announced yet, look for the patch's patch about 3 months after we get the patch. What account did you try to into? Onion.rain.com?
