                                Version 0.9
                      For Falcon 3.02 and MiG-29 1.00
Copyright 22 Aug 93 by Frank W. Racis

Falcon Campaign Editor (FCE) is a program which allows you to change the
characteristics of the pilots in your Falcon/MiG29 squadrons, as well as
control the supply status of an ongoing campaign.

IMPORTANT ===> FCE modifies data files essential to the proper operation of
Falcon 3. It is highly recommended that you make a backup copy of your
squadron files (SQUAD?.*) before running FCE.

FCE works only with Falcon 3.02, and/or MiG-29 1.00. If you have an
earlier version of Falcon, get the latest upgrade. If you have a newer
version of either product, look for an updated FCE (this one probably won't
work).

FCE currently has a limited user interface and can only do "group"
functions such as un-fatigue all pilots or add 20 more of every weapon.
While it does not offer individual control over pilots and ordnance, it
will be able to get you through those rough campaigns. I am currently
planning to develop a version which will offer individual control.

The only catch to a version 1.0 is that it would be for Windows 3.0/3.1.
The features of version 0.9 would still be incorporated as a DOS program
for quickness, but the interactive editing would be done under Windows.
I'm interested in feedback regarding a Windows version, so send in your
opinions!

USING FCE
---------
Copy FCE.EXE into your FALCON3 directory, and make this your current
directory. To edit Falcon data, type FCE. To edit MiG-29 data, type
FCE -M. You will be asked which squadron you with to edit. The numbers
are assigned in the order of creation (the first squadron you create is
squadron 0). If the squadron you select cannot be found, either it does
not exist, is not currently in a campaign, or you are in the wrong
subdirectory.

Once you select a squadron, the menu appears. There are 6 possible
choices, and you can use any or all of them before exiting. Entering an
invalid number will cause FCE to exit and save data. If you do not wish to
save the data, pressing <ctrl>-<break> at the menu will discard any
changes. The options are as follows:

1.) Un-Fatigue all pilots
This sets the "Fatigue" factor of all pilots to 100, bringing them up
     to full rested status.

2.) Make all pilots perfect
This sets the Dogfighting, Bombing, Flying Ability, and Fatigue
factors of all pilots to 100. Highly recommended - the last thing
your wingmen need is artificial stupidity.

3.) Resurrect all dead pilots
This brings back any pilots which are KIA, MIA, or court martialed.
It also sorts the pilot roster by rank. All 30 pilots will be
available. Note that when pilots are "killed" their ability or
fatigue scores often suffer. It's a good idea to run option 2 after
     option 3.

4.) Increase all ordnance by 20
This will add 20 items to each type of weapon you have, to a maximum
of 250 of each type. It also gives you 50 ECM pods total, an
additional 4000 bullets, and an additional 150 chaff and flares.

5.) Resupply fuel
Gives you a total of 280000 lbs of fuel.

6.) Return number of planes to 18
Gives you a total of 18 planes for your campaign.

The only possible problem I have encountered is that the Sierra Hotel may
get out of sync with pilots who are killed and resurrected. If this really
bothers someone I can fix it for a later release.

Legal stuff
-----------
This program is free, and you may distribute as many copies as you wish, as
long as FCE.EXE and FCE.TXT are distributed together, without
modifications. It cannot be sold as commercial software, but a small
charge for shareware distribution is acceptable.

You have been warned to back up your campaign files. If FCE kills your
campaign data, it's your own fault. No warranties are expressed or
implied.

Please send me a brief E-Mail with your name and any comments you may have.
I just want an idea of how many people are using this, whether it's worth
my while to develop another version, and what to include in future
releases.
