Hello F3 pilots,

Does anyone know out there how I can configure Falcon 3.0D to make optimal use
of my EMS. I have about 15MB of it (I can even create a Ramdisk and run Falcon)
from the Ramdisk). I notice that sometimes when I switch views, Falcon accesses
the harddisk (for some more data???) It would be nice if Falcon would put
al lot of stuff into the EMS until it is full. No more (or at least al lot less)
disk-access.

Fly fast and low, to beat the SAMS, that's the way to go!

Hello,
      I've been watching this discussion about ways to et more detailed planes.
      I've got about 618k free and I tried copying sobjects to objects or
      whatever, but nothing at all changed.

      However I decided to change the detail level from 'medium' which is the
      recommended for my machine , to 'high' and *presto!* all of the 
      enemy aircraft were detailed (engines, blue canopies, refueling probe
      on A4, etc). Now, is it really this easy? Has everyone out there tried
      just changing the detail level?  
      By the way, I changed the objects and sobject files back to the originals
      so they are not the cause.. I just though it was wierd that a simple
      menu choice could give me what people seemed to be going to so much 
      trouble to get..

For the loadhigh trick to work, you need DOS 5, EMM386, and 
at least 51k of Upper Memory Blocks.

Am I the only one who despises digests?  This is nothing against Jeff
and the service he provides, just a comment in general.

First of all, it makes it very hard for me to selectively save the
messages that I find useful.  I must save the entire digest or nothing
at all.  This makes for a waste of disk space and it means I must
decipher the useful tidbits every time I reread the digest.

Second, it is harder to reply to individuals directly.  This may
actually cause an increase in the traffic to the mailing list as the
default reply address is now the mailing list rather than the
individual you are trying to reply to.  This will cause duplicated and
redundant information to be sent to the mailing list over and over
again as we all answer once again the newcomer's question "Where do I
get patchX?".

Third, it is harder to reply to the mailing list and follow threads in
discussions as the subject must be manually entered.  This leads to
typos and changing subjects which may not convey the same meaning and
certainly makes it harder to track.

Fourth, it may decrease the load on the machine, but if duplicated
answers are going to be weeded out (solving some of the second
problem), then it just increases the load on Jeff and most likely
delays message delivery even more.

Again, I want to state that I really like the service Jeff is
providing, it's just that I hate digests with a passion.  It is
unfortunate that the popularity and amount of information sharing that
has occurred has driven us to this.  I guess I can always go back to
news.
