The patch to OFT, which brings the version to 3.01.1, is supposed to fix the
PC speaker problems (missing IFF, etc). It should be on onion.rain.com,
right?

 [[ Right -- It's in /pub/falcon3/programs/oftpt1.zip --Jeff ]]

As Dave Masten pointed out, the Bonnani Falcon book is pretty useless.
However, in the next month or so, two new F3 books are supposed to be
released. Both books were written by folks that frequent Compu$erve's
FSFORUM (Modern Air Combat). One book is written by Tom "KC" Bashem,
published by The Waite Group, and is supposed to be out any time now. I
forget the other author's name, unfortunately.

Both books are supposed to go far beyond the F3 and OFT manuals, and I think
both will come with a floppy disk full of Red Flag missions and other fun
stuff.

Subject: Re: attacking columns

To really setup a tank column attack right, you need to figure out more
than just how YOU want to carry out your attack. Ideally, it requires
at least 3 flights (this is true of most CAS missions).

The first flight to go in is a CAP flight that goes high and not
directly over the target area. This is used to attact any air defenses
(both on the ground and in the air) away from your other flights.

The second flight to go in is a wild weasel flight loaded with harms
and shrikes. Set your waypoint to SEAD if you have 3.01 (perhaps patch
E will have this too) or CAS if you can't. This flight should come
close to your column but not overfly it. I use about 3000' for
altitude and 550 kts ingres, 650 exit speed. Falcon 3.0 through patch
D may require using mavericks and CAS instead of harms/shrikes and CAS
because of the way ground radar works in this version.

The third flight to go in is your flight. Mop up what's left. The way
points should be similar to the second flight as far as speed and
altitude go. You probably want to arrange to have the flights approach
the area from different directions though. You may also want to move
the waypoint for this flight over the column if you plan on using
CBUs. If you're using standoff weapons, you don't need to (nor do you
want to) overfly the column.

Yup ! I put a posting up about 3 days ago. I understand that
falconer works with OFT, though I am not sure about it.
F3maps doesn't work with 3.01.1 unless you have f3maps version 4.1 The
version that works for OFT is 4.0 To upgrade this, use the
patch f3mptc1.zip (or something like that) in
/pub/falcon3/programs to patch the 4.0 version of f3maps.
