Subject: The F14 needs AMRAAMS

Hello aviators,

Flying the F-14 up until now has led me to the following tentative
conclusion: The F-14 desperately needs the AMRAAM. The Phoenix just won't
hack it against fighters, especially not if they know you are there.
Sparrows are of no use against a MIG29 or SU27 with AA-10c or AA-12 active
radar missiles. You lock them and fire a Sparrow. They react by firing an
AA-10C or AA-12 and are free to manouver. I have to keep the lock on them
to guide the sparrow. Which means BOOM, I get speared. So I have no choice
than to start manouvering to defeat the missiles fired at me. This I
usually manage but I break lock and my Sparrow goes ballistic. The MIG's
(clever bastards) know this and use the time I need to defeat the missiles
to close in (all the time firing active radar missiles) and finally finish
me off with an AA-11. In my opinion this is caused by the lack of a medium
ranged active radar missile like the AMRAAM. Using the AMRAAM would give
me the same tactical advantadge as the MIG29 and SU27 i.e. freeding to
seek an advantadged postion while the other one is sweating it out with
my missile or at least putting him in the position as I am..

If FD is realistic in this respect then the US Navy better make sure they
get AMRAAMS on their Tomcats FAST especially when they come up against
SU-27's from the Kutznetsov.

Stuart, do you know if the US Navy has any plans in that direction?

	Chera

P.s. I have AUTHENTIC settings for everthing and level 5 enemy pilots.

Subject: FST Demo - Comming soon!

Hi,

I just got a letter (snail-mail) from the guy who is running the FST-
user-group (FYI, it's a commercial service that is offered by Simis/
Domark, the manifactures of FST).
In this letter he confirms -among other things- that you are allowed
to distribute your own created flight-sims if do it for free.
(I was afraid that I would violate Copyright-laws if I'd do so.)

Anyway, I'll hopfully upload a demo in the course of the next week.

Status now: the landscape (300km x 300 km) is designed (took me about
3 hours; it's a pure fantasy landscape), the first airfield is roughly
complete (half an hour), and I've implemented my first easter-egg
(10 minutes - I can understand that commercial software firms implement
those, it's like rewarding yourself ;-)

I thought of implementing both, a civilian and a military world but I
don't know if I have the time to do that until next week.

I would be glad if you would send me your wishes for this or the next
flight-sims (i.e. what scenario do you want, what planes, etc.).
I can definately not promise that your wishes will be implemented in the
first version but I think of ''upgrading'' that one from time to time.
Please send your suggestions to both of the adresses in my .sig; I promise
that I will try to answer all ;-)

Thank you for your interest,
Joerg "Dancer" Stenger

PS: for the flight-sim, I'm looking for pcx/gif/jpg/whatever-files of
cockpits (inside front-view). If you have one, please also send me
    an e-mail.
(I'm also looking for a cool opening-screen, if you have one...
Of course I'll try to mention everybody who helped me in the
     credits-section in the opening-screen ;-)
