Subject: Tornado CD version

I own the original Tornado v1.0. The first time I tried this game, I
think that the designers are trying to kill the player by making the
missions so complex and the aircraft so realistic to fly. I regret
that I bought this product! I uninstalled the program but retained
the disks and manuals

Early last year I read a book 'Gulf Air War: Debrief' that, among
others, described the missions flown by British Tornado Aircrews.
Only after reading the book that I begun realizing that the game
really is an immense product. I reinstalled the game (fortunately the
disks aren't damaged) and I still enjoyed the product until now.

In February I heard that Tornado is re-released in CD format, with a
new Theater of Operations: Desert Storm. I think this must be a
great re-release. How unfortunate, because I haven't got any CD-ROM
drive in my system.

Can anybody who own this version tell me wether this new release is
good (the gameplay, I mean)? From the mails I read in this Hitech
Digest, it seem that this new release has so many problems
(technically, not the gameplay).

Thanks,
Iwan Setyawan,

Subject: Help with Gunship 2000?

I have the original GS2000 and have been trying to run it on my new P90.
I got the v6 patch, which adds rudder pedal control and (supposedly)
Sound blaster support - so it should fix one of the two
things I really dislike about this game: the way the simulation freezes
during digitized sound output. Unfortunately, I can't get *any* sound to
work now (except sometimes during the opening screens), whether I choose
SB or Adlib in setup. Before patching, the sound was ok.

Any suggestions? I have a PAS-16 doing SB emulation (I've tried IRQ 5 and 7).

(What's the other thing I dislike, you ask? The very first training
mission sends you to attack ground targets that are all over you before
you're within range to fire back. The training missions in Comanche were
much better for gradually introducing weapons and tactics.)
