If you know how to edit your AUTOEXEC.CFG file but don't know how to make the special characters (like red letters) you can probably use a new page I've made to construct QUAKE names. The page is mostly Javascript and requires Netscape 3.0 (I don't know if it works with Internet Explorer 3.0 cause I don't have it - but you can try). After you've made your name, you can see what it will look like online! What you'll have to do: 1. Make your name (most likely a bunch of accented characters) by selecting characters and then pushing the "Add character" button. 2. Copy the name to your clipboard (highlight it and go to the edit menu and copy it). 3. Add the line name "~~your name here~~" to your AUTOEXEC.CFG file. If you don't have an AUTOEXEC.CFG file in your QUAKE directory then you can make one in NOTEPAD and put it in your QUAKE directory. And that's it. Remember! If you use CTF (or any other patch) and have a AUTOEXEC.CFG or CONFIG.CFG file in your CTF (or other patch's) directory, it may overwrite the name in your AUTOEXEC.CFG file in the QUAKE directory (because it's run after it) so make sure you don't have the line name "~~whatever name~~" in another AUTOEXEC.CFG or CONFIG.CFG file. I just thought I post this so I could get a couple of people to test it and work out the bugs (even though I'm pretty sure I've got all of them). Hope you don't mind being my guinea pigs.... Here's the page: http://www.renc.igs.net/~rlowe/quake_names.html If you have any questions, throw 'em at me! I've got lots 'o time. THANKS ALL, Ryan Lowe AKA -HotLunch-[FTC]
