Because we've used the Edge engine, this offers various improvements over
the normal Doom2 engine - many of which are immediately apparent.

To get the most out of Covert Operations, you should go to Edge's
in-game setup menu, and make sure that your keyboard/mouse setup is correct.
Under the options menu, you'll find all sorts of tweaks you can make to
customise your gameplay.

Importantly, you'll need to define a crosshair (to aid your aiming), a jump
key (which will allow you to jump) and a mlook (mouselook) key.
The easiest way to use mlook is to define an mlook key. Pick a convenient
key, and in the controls setup, define it as your mlook key. Then, whenever
you hold down this key, the movement of your mouse will translate into a
change of aim. You can peer up and down, left and right (and infinite
combinations of these values). The upshot of all this is that it allows you
to quickly snap your viewpoint (and aim) to any particular area within your
field of view. You'll be able to adjust your aim to hit certain targets.
This feature is extremely useful because it lets you fire directly over the
heads of hostages. You should enable and use this feature to get the most
out of the game.

If you have a powerful enough computer, we recommend running Covert
Operations at 640x480 (or higher) in 16 bit colour.

*  Install  *
*************

1) You will need to get a copy of the EDGE engine (download
it from http://edge.sourceforge.net/)

2) Unzip this into a directory of your choice. Just to keep things
neat, we recommend making a specific directory for Covert Operations.
(e.g C:\covert).

3) Unzip all the files in cov_demo.zip to this directory.
(when you are asked if you want to overwrite files, say yes to all)

4) You will then need to edit the file cov_demo.txt to show where
your doom2.wad is located.

5) To play, simply run the file cov_demo.bat

6) If you have a problem, have suggestions or find a bug, please
e-mail ziggy@doomworld.com.
