Doombot Arena 4.1
by Captain Mellow

New for Doombot Arena 4.1:
*support for Doombot 4.0, Cajun Bot 0.98, & the ZCajun.
*NOTE: Doombot Arena 4.0 is required. Then simply unzip 4.1 into the c:\dbot dir, overwriting older files.
The April Fool was on me, as I had inadvertently already bundled Cajun 0.98 with the Doombot Arena 4.0. Seredipitously, this makes the 4.1 patch a very small update. Demo recording is still restricted to the Doombot 4.0 as the Cajun demo recording is still unstable. Also, co-op slige maps are still only ZCajun, even though the Cajun 0.98 also supports co-op.

New for Doombot Arena 4.0:
*support for forever.wad by Ginge (NOTE: This wad contains profanity. If, like me, you don't care for it, simply use Wintex to delete DSPLPAIN.)
*support for Vicious Circles--these maps really demonstrate the power of the Doombot 4.0 nodes
*personal map list, allowing you to set up 7 slots to launch your own maps--this was a feature I had wanted to add from the start, but needed to lay the groundwork first
*launch Doombot 4.0 with any map: This feature is found under the personal map list.
*cleaned up code (not something casual users may notice, but the new arena40.bat is slightly smaller than arena.bat was, even though it does more)
*added SLIGE support to generate maps & play them with either Doombot 4.0 dm or SP co-op with ZCajun
*added nodeshop for Doombot 3.0+ for easy noding of maps
*For the sake of completeness, I have bundled Doombot 4.0, Doombot 3.0 (for nodemaking), ZDoom 1.22 (for ZCajun co-op), SLIGE build 485 (for random map generation), & BSP 2.3 (for final step in random map generation).

New for Doombot Arena 3.0, 3.1:
*support for Execution
*select 1-6 bots in the menu before launching a botmatch
*ability to name & record demos from the menu
*new graphics in menus
*view last recorded demo from main menu by pressing "V" (you can watch me get clobbered)

I am no coder, except for being able to write elaborate batch files. That, & edit ansi screens. It gets the job done.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INVENTORY:
Here's what's inside--

Doombot 4.0

Doombot 3.0 (for nodemaking)

ZDoom 1.22 (for ZCajun co-op)

SLIGE build 485 (for random map generation)

BSP 2.3 (for final step in random map generation).

Arena40.bat is just that, a big batch file that calls a few little ones. It was
written to make the entire process of launching the Doombot with various node
files, as well as recording & viewing demos, as easy & painless as possible. Arena40.bat
will write other batch files on the fly as needed.

Ansi.com, ansi.bas, & ansi.asm comprise an ansi interpreter which will be loaded
if ansi.sys isn't running. It enables the color graphics. Enjoy.

*.ans are the ansi color menus.

*.nod are the nod files for the maps which Doombot Arena supports "out of the box".
You can now add support for your own node files under the personal map list.

demo.bat is written after a demo is recorded. It plays the last recorded demo. Since this file gets overwritten each time a new demo is recorded, you should rename it if you want to save it. If you want to send the demo to someone (like me), just include demo.bat with the demo, & it will be very easy for someone to watch it.

file.bat, numbot.bat, deh.bat, nodes.bat, warp.bat, & namedemo.bat are subroutines used to obtain user input to set different variables which are then used in a command line.

nonode.bat, lnchp.bat & lnchr.bat are generic command lines used for playing maps & recording demos, respectively. Variables are passed on to these command lines to launch the desired maps.

p1.bat-p7.bat are used for launching the personal map list slots. They are rewritten whenever slots are set up. NOTE: These aren't included in the zip, they will be written
after you set up a given slot. Launching a slot before setting it up will get a minor
"file not found" type message.

1.txt-7.txt are the titles of the personal map list slots. They are also rewritten whenever slots are set up.

noder.bat is called whenever the nodeshop is selected. It hopefully makes the noding process much easier for people.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTALLATION:
Simply unzip everything into your c:\ root directory, keeping the directories intact. This will create a c:\dbot dir, with many subdirectories. Renaming the dirs will cause the nodeshop to not work properly without rewriting a few things buried here & there.

Also, you should have brit11.wad, sldm.wad, darken2.wad, vicious.wad forever.wad, & exec.wad in the same dir. If you have any maps that you want to work on in the nodeshop, place them in the c:\dbot\nodeshop dir.

Then, simply launch arena40.bat & you'll be ready to go. The menus are hopefully
self-explanatory.
