Descriptions
------------

Level descriptions follow. Each description was written by the team member
who played the map.

E1M1 - Erik
-----------
Great start map, a lot like the original e1m1. Getting a good time here is
quite annoying though as you need luck with what the monsters in the first
large room do and sometimes that first trooper just refuses to die. This
time I had bad luck with the monster movement but they still went down
pretty quickly. This is also a great map for speedrunning, :07 anyone?

E1M2 - Mole
-----------
Very fun level! The secrets are easy to remember and the enemies are well
placed and easy to shoot. I tried to shoot them while running which required
me to skip some and come back later. My nicest run in the pack

E1M3 - Erik
-----------
Probably my favourite level in the pack, great level progression and good
action. There are rarely any lost monsters. Only complaint I have is the run
to that red key switch to open the secret exit, it' s off the route and
doesn' t feel very natural.

E1M4 - Erik
-----------
Another good map, very connected layout makes it feel very compact and
non-linear. My demo here isn' t too good, a bit sluggish and not very fast.
The most common problem is the spectre blocking one of the jumps over the
slime in the first area (the second jump).

E1M5 - Ryback
-------------
By now CH-Retro's levels are getting pretty big, but fortunately this
one isn't too hard. You can go any way you like here, there are passages all
over the place. One silly mistake at the end because I forgot how a lift
work, but otherwise the demo is fairly good.

E1M6 - Ryback
-------------
I worked this one a fair bit to get it under six minutes. Like all the
other levels it's an intricate, complex level with incredible amounts
of detail - both visual and structural, worked into a small area.
This level likes to confront you with large packs of monsters, requiring
some patient guarding of health.

E1M7 - Ryback
-------------
Easily the biggest level in the entire episode. Wonderful design,
interesting gameplay, good secrets. It takes no effort of imagination
at all to think of the level as a real place, which takes some skill
from a wad author. Maybe one too many monster teleporters,
though.

E1M8 - Ryback
-------------
So yes, this demo is rather slow and not very good looking. But I have an
excuse: the main arena, the one with the four Barons, has a very big
VPO problem under the original doom - if you stand in certain spots and
look certain ways the level is guaranteed to crash. So this demo mostly
consists of me dancing around those certain spots and trying to avoid
looking at too much of the room - and of course trying to kill the Barons as
well!

E1M9 - Ryback
-------------
A fairly small level for CH-Retro, and lots of fun. Like most of these
levels, it's immediately recognisable as an Episode 1 creation, but doesn't
feel dated.
