I had heard this was a good set of maps, but my expectations weren't this high.
Excellent design and layout with every step of the way planned for you... just like a real game release. It reminded me of Mordeth Episode 1 instantly; quality maps with great attention to detail and originality. More for the explorer-type player or core DOOM player than the usual shoot-'em-up wads out there. It isn't quite as good as Mordeth, but it earns that recognition. In a nutshell, SCI is a levelset that everyone is looking for. As a matter of fact, I implore you to play it before watching the demos... the maps are that good.

With that said, these demos are not optimized. The multitude of secrets and back-tracking on the maps doesn't play into fast recordings. Also, similar to Mordeth, the maps have a somewhat tricky balance for gameplay especially starting with the pistol... remember, -timedemo is your friend. :)

Lastly, Scientist: sorry it took so long to get around to this demoset, I've been busy. Better late than never?

Map01 -- Very dull demo.

Map02 -- Have to backtrack the whole map for the RL secret. Only 80% secrets registered, but I did get all 5. You can get visiplane errors in 2 of the rooms consistently.

Map03 -- A map that plays out very differently each time. Only 57% secrets(I tried to get that worthless berzerk secret, but it is not worth hassling over :)... because the 2 soulsphere-chaingunner secrets are triggered by a W1 instead of a S1 linedef so they are unreachable??? Plasma and rockets but no weapon 5 or 6... so you can run out of ammo if you don't waste some time on infighting. Lastly, you can get a visiplane error when you exit the end room back into the main area.

Map04 -- Recorded this one quickly. Getting the ssg early can save some time, but means you have to return to get the blue armor secret. The end can be bothersome in a demorun. 4 secrets. Terrific fun!

Map05 -- These next 3 demos were done without sound. I was waiting for 8 hour downloads... c'est la vie... so please forgive some parts are just a bit slower than they should be. Another relatively short map with some original rooms.

Map06 -- This is one of those maps that is fun every time... all action, all aim, all fun. Tough map to do without sound... had to count the 16 teleporting shotgun guys each time. I had a much faster demo where I killed what I hoped was the last guy(but wasn't) from the cockpit -- that was cool. :)

Map07 -- Much less than optimized, but oh well. the Sickle/Hammer is cool... hmm, Revenents banished to Siberia... :)
I forgot the exit secret that takes you back to the rest of the map.

Map08 -- Whew, something around here stinks! oh, it's this demo. =P Only 75% secrets =(
There is a long(but safe) way to take down the Spidermastermind, but us marines are busy people. :)
You can get a visiplane overflow when getting the blue key in the 2-mancubus room.

Map09 -- fun map, some of the doors become a bit annoying, but that is immaterial for playtesting. I don't have the foggiest clue how to get the 2 outside secrets. I think it has something to do with the linedefs without sector tags....
Leaving the arachnotron for the exit telefrag can be deadly.... and that damn blur sphere again! man, that thing is a handicap. I thought the caco-generator had 10 in it, so I was waiting for it...

Map10 -- I forgot to get the last secret by the shotgun guy at the red door. too little too late anyway. The top of that switch is a secret, so that is what I am doing when I look unfocused. :)
Grabbing the blue key early doesn't get you much... would save a minute or two though if you were going to play the level backwards.

Map11 -- Good finishing map... finishes off the Siberia episode nicely. Somewhat easier than the previous maps too, which allows for a happy trigger finger. :)
My only complaint is that there is no showdown to finish the wad.
