When I did my UV max on Michael Reed's classic "Hoover Dam", DooM mapper
Gene Bird recommended this map, by the same author. I took it as a polite
"request" to record something for this map, so here's a max run for you,
Gene! Hope you like it. :-)

I must say this is a very fine map, with plenty of ammo and health and
plenty of monsters. In fact, this is one of the best town/city maps I've
seen. I especially like the bright, cheerful tones in this map, as opposed
to the grim appearance of e.g. MM maps 18 and 28.

It's not too hard to find you way around the buildings, as they all look
unique -- clever move on the author's part. Some parts of the map are a
little boring; the ending, especially, is too cramped and populated by
too many Pain Elementals. The teleporting puzzle in the library also
becomes old fast. Just remember the sequence 4-2-5 (the "safe" aisles in
sequence, counting from the left) and you'll be fine. :-)

I'm very pleased with the time, considering my second fastest successful
exit was a 9:15. This run was the best by a wide margin. There were some
problems with stragglers, but I've seen worse maps in this respect.

The route and tactics came to me pretty soon after I discovered you can
reach the platform with the megasphere without teleporting. Some things
could surely be done faster or in a different order (leave ALL the
released monsters for the ending, for example), but I settled for a
semi-safe approach. Killing all the demons immediately, for example,
eliminates the risk of leaving one of them alive later.

Enjoy!
